Regularly hit by the 3pm slump?

Feeling tired after eating is a sign that your body is struggling to break down food.

Common causes

- low stomach acid
- low digestive enzymes
- food intolerances / allergies
- not enough gut bacteria
- poor motility

Start by chewing your food, slowing down your pace of eating. Add probiotic rich fermented foods and zinc, magnesium rich foods.

And if you're still stuggling with fatigue or bloating, consider testing!

Ever notice how stress can send you straight to bread bin?

Or make crisps and cheese irresistible?

You might not even notice you're doing it.

But it's your body's chemistry trying to help you cope with whatever physical or emotional stress you've been dealing with.

Carbs help quickly boost serotoin, acting like a comfort blanket for your brain while cheese, crisps, and butter light up your brains reward centres.

Real comfort comes from feeding your brain in a way that nourishes not numbs. Finding ways to let your body feel safe and managing your stress.

Read the full blog on substack or comment BREAD below, and I'll send it to you.

PS no judgement here, who doesn't love a crusty sourdough!?!

Someone nominated me 😮

I’m so delighted to be nominated for The Club Women’s Network Awards 2025 in the Most Positive Impact category.

My work has always been about helping people feel better in themselves, with their health, their energy, and their everyday life. To have that seen and recognised in this way feels really special.

A big thank you to the person who took the time to nominate me šŸ’›šŸ’›

Honest + Goodness Nutrition

Hi! I’m Claire O’Brien, owner of Honest + Goodness Nutrition. I am a nutritional therapist specialising in heart and digestive health.

It breaks my heart when people tell me they have almost entirely given up trying to be healthy or that they have spent weeks, months or even years beating themselves up for not doing the ā€˜right things’.

I love helping people to reclaim their health and get to a place where they feel confident, energised and in control of their health.

When we work together, I will start by asking you questions, find out what is going in your tests (if available) and talk through your day to day life to see how a nutrition and lifestyle programme fits.
