Those of you who have been lucky enough to meet Kevin know how passionate he is about mental health and supporting others, and this challenge is no different. (Even if the second photo suggests otherwise 😅)

Pieta House provides such an important service, supporting people and families through some of their most difficult moments, and this is a cause very close to Kevin’s heart.

If you’d like to support him (and help him push through those tougher miles), you can donate via the link in our bio.

Happy International Women’s Day 💜

Today we’re recognising just a few of the women whose work helped shape how we understand and support children’s emotional development.

We also want to celebrate the women continuing this work every day
therapists, teachers, mothers, caregivers and the girls growing up finding their voices.

And a special shoutout to our own team
Andrea, Alison, Rachel and Phoebe
for the care, compassion and dedication you bring to the children and families we support.

We had a very special visitor this week 💛

Marika, a talented children’s author, came in to share her beautiful books with us. As an neurodivergent author, her stories offer something incredibly powerful; genuine representation and understanding for neurodivergent children and their families.

Seeing lived experience turned into meaningful, accessible stories is something we deeply value in our work.

Her books are now available to purchase in our service. Feel free to ask us about them next time you’re in!✨

In this week’s team meeting, Kevin shared reflections from his time away over the past two months.

One of the ideas that stayed with us was a description of apathy, not as a lack of feeling, but as “stuck stress”. Stress that builds in the body over time. A nervous system that has been holding too much for too long.

From there, the conversation widened.

We reflected on how we describe ourselves as neuro-affirming, and how that commitment has to extend to all neurotypes, not just the ones that feel easier to talk about.

Certain diagnoses carry heavy stigma. Media narratives can shape our perceptions before understanding has a chance to develop. And when that happens, it can become harder to have open conversations.

But diagnosis does not equal destiny.

Behind every label is a nervous system trying to cope. Behind every child and family is complexity that deserves curiosity rather than judgement.

These are not always easy conversations.
But they are important ones

One of the resources we often reach for in our therapy room is Wonderfully Wired Brains by Louise Gooding.

It explains neurodiversity in such a validating and child-friendly way.

We love how it shifts the focus from “what’s wrong?” to “how is this brain wonderfully wired?”

Books like this help children understand themselves with more confidence and self-compassion.

💛 Every brain deserves to be celebrated.
