7 Ways to Involve Loved Ones 🤍
Your wedding ceremony is about the two of you, but it is also about the people who supported you, shaped you, and stood beside you on your journey. Including them in the ceremony can make the moment feel even more personal. Here are some ways to do it:
✍️ Select your witnesses with intention
Your witnesses can be anyone over 18, and they do not have to be a member of the bridal party. Their names will need to be given to the HSE in advance, so it is worth thinking about who you would like to stand beside you on the day, both legally and symbolically.
✨ Invite loved ones to participate in unity rituals
Parents lighting the unity candles is a particularly moving moment, symbolising the families coming together. You can also include loved ones in a sand ceremony, handfasting or other symbolic ritual that reflects your story.
📖 Ask someone special to do a reading
A loved one could share a reading or poem during the ceremony. It adds warmth and makes the ceremony feel deeply personal. Even better if you can convince someone to write something for your day.
🌸 Spotlight your little attendants
Ring bearers and flower girls may be small in size, but their role is big in meaning. Introducing them as part of the ceremony ensures they feel included and valued.
👰♂️ Nominate an usher or two
Ushers are a lovely way to involve friends or family members, and it can be a great role for a teenager. They welcome guests, encourage people to sit near the front, and guide everyone to reserved seats for the bridal party and immediate family.
✨ Include them in your story
I create a bespoke story of your journey - including the names of anyone special you want celebrated in your ceremony.
🎶 Invite loved ones into the music
A family member or friend can sing, play an instrument or help choose meaningful music that reflects your shared memories.
🤍The most powerful moments often come from involving the people who have been part of your story long before the wedding day.
