🥞✨ Pancake Tuesday… but make it a whole week! 🇮🇪
We decided one day just wasn’t enough — so we celebrated Pancake Tuesday all week long!
During our sessions in Drogheda, Donore, Duleek and Slane we explored everything about pancakes from start to finish. We talked about the ingredients (flour, eggs, milk 🥚🥛), learned about shapes (of course pancakes are round… but what about the toppings? 😉), and walked through every stage of making them — mixing, pouring, baking and even practising our flipping skills!
The children loved working on their “flip technique” — lots of concentration and giggles involved 🥞✨
For our creative activity, everyone designed their own pancake: choosing fillings, pouring sauce on top and decorating it like a special celebration treat. Sprinkles, fruit, sweet toppings — imagination was fully switched on 🍓🍯
We also enjoyed sensory play in our little pancake kitchen and finished with bubbles and laughter — because every celebration needs a bit of magic 🫧💛
Such a lovely way to explore an Irish tradition through play, learning and lots of fun together.
🏡 Try this at home:
1️⃣ **Pancake Helper**
Let your child help measure and mix ingredients. Talk about textures — is it runny? thick? smooth?
2️⃣ **Flip Challenge**
Use a soft toy or paper pancake and practise flipping safely. Great for coordination!
3️⃣ **Design a Topping Bar**
Set up small bowls with fruit, yoghurt or jam and let your child create their own pancake masterpiece.
