❄️ Saying Goodbye to Winter – A Magical Children’s Session⛄✨

This week Lena's Little Learners enjoyed a beautiful session all about **saying goodbye to winter**.

The children played with soft snowballs, and collected snowflakes *to save them for next winter*❄️🥤. These playful activities were wonderful for strengthening finger muscles, improving coordination, focus, and attention.

We also had some very special guests — ☃️snowmen⛄! The children decorated them using colourful shapes, exploring colours, shapes, and patterns through hands-on play.

Creativity flowed as each child created their own snowman artwork, carefully adding a hat, eyes, nose — and of course finishing it all with sparkling snow✨. We used a variety of materials including paint, glue, plasticine, and textured elements to support sensory development and creative expression.

And then came the most magical moment…
✨ Making our own artificial snow!
By adding water to a “magic powder,” the children watched in amazement as it transformed into fluffy white snow — just like the real thing. The *wow* on their faces said it all! They had so much fun touching, exploring, and playing with it 🤍❄️
🏠 Try These Winter Goodbye Games at Home
1️⃣ Winter Sorting Tray
Collect small items at home (white, blue, shiny, soft). Ask your child to sort them into bowls — great for attention, language, and early maths skills
2️⃣ Snowman Movemen
Pretend to be snowmen: stretch tall, melt slowly to the floor, freeze again. This supports body awareness and listening skills ⛄🧍‍♂️
3️⃣ Texture Snow
Use glue to draw a snowman or winter scene and sprinkle salt, flour, or rice on top. Explore how it feels once dry — a lovely sensory experience.
❄️⛄✨

❄️ Winter Clothing on Play & Learn Session in Lena's Little Learners 🧤🧣

This week our little learners enjoyed a cosy and engaging session all about winter clothing. Together we explored the names of different clothing items and talked about which clothes we wear on different parts of the body — hats on heads, gloves on hands, scarves on necks, and so much more!

The children loved finding matching pairs on picture cards, developing their attention and language skills through play.

For fine motor development, we played a very exciting game called “Dress the Finger Family” 👋🧶 — tiny knitted hats for each finger! This activity brought so much joy, concentration, and lots of smiles.

Creativity was in full flow as the children designed their own unique gloves and hats, becoming little winter fashion designers 🎨✨
And of course, everyone was especially happy to return to our much-loved sensory play, which we had all missed after the holiday break.

There was such a special atmosphere in the room — laughter, familiarity, and happiness. It was wonderful to return to our routine and see friends reconnect after the festive holidays 💙

🏠 Try These Winter Clothing Games at Home
1️⃣ Dress the Teddy
Ask your child to dress a teddy or doll in winter clothes while naming each item and the body part it goes on.

2️⃣ Matching Game
Print or draw pictures of winter clothing and find matching pairs together.

3️⃣ Finger Fashion
Use socks, paper, or fabric to make tiny “hats” or “gloves” for fingers — great for fine motor skills!

✨🎄 Getting Ready for Christmas – A Magical Children’s Activity! 🎄✨
Today we had the most wonderful Christmas-themed session filled with joy, curiosity and festive magic!
My little Santa helper started by decorating a soft felt Christmas tree, choosing colourful decorations and creating their own festive designs 🌟🎄.
Then the excitement grew as they searched for Christmas baubles through a sensory game, using their hands and senses to find hidden treasures — learning through play at its very best ✋✨.
Next, it was time for something very special… writing a letter to Santa 🎅💌. The children shared their wishes, decorated their letters with care, and of course, made sure to add a stamp— because every letter to Santa needs one! 📮✨
To finish, we created beautiful sensory Christmas bottles, watching the “snow” gently swirl and fall inside. These calming bottles are perfect for quiet moments, helping children relax while enjoying the magic of winter ❄️🫙.
It was a heart-warming session full of creativity, imagination and festive cheer — the perfect way to prepare for Christmas together ❤️
🎄 **Try these Christmas games at home:**
1️⃣ **Christmas Treasure Hunt** – Hide small festive items around the house and give children simple clues to find them 🔍🎁
2️⃣ **Snowy Sensory Tray** – Use rice, flour or cotton wool with small Christmas figures for sensory play ❄️🤍
3️⃣ **Decorate Santa’s Beard** – Draw Santa’s face and let children glue cotton wool or pom-poms to create his beard 🎅✨

Wishing everyone a cosy, joyful and magical Christmas season! 🎄❤️
