This week we saw the passing of an incredible woman, mother and advocate for women’s health.
Vicky Phelan unearthed one of the biggest women's health scandals in Irish history, in which over 221 women were not informed that an audit had revised the result of their previous negative cervical cancer smear test.
In many cases, the eventual cervical cancer diagnoses of the women involved could possibly have been prevented had they known at their original smear of an abnormal result.
We are incredibly saddened to hear of Vicky’s passing and we thank her for her incredible contributions to women’s health in Ireland.
A real warrior, her courage and tenacity will never be forgotten by the people of Ireland.
A true hero to women worldwide 🤍
