Today, I’m teaching a group of teenagers how to self-coach, set goals and manage their inner critic!
In preparing for this work, I’ve been doing my best to channel my inner 16 year-old-self to try to “relate” 😬 (this time around, without the shimmery lipgloss, blue eyeshadow and barely there eyebrows)!
For the most part, I remember being that age and thinking that anyone who came in to give us a “talk” was a bit of a tool 😂 I feel like if I set the bar at that level, I’ll get by ok 🤞🏻
Needless to say, I truly feel pushed right out of my comfort zone today but I keep reminding myself of my reasons for doing it.
I really feel like I could potentially make a significant difference in the lives of our future leaders 💪🏻
Although staying in your comfort zone can be nice and cosy, it’s not allowing you, or those around you, to develop personally. You most likely already know this but you might be wondering *how* to push yourself, and others, out of this comfy zone.
You could start exploring by asking yourself, or your team members, some questions like:
❔What do you currently fear that you’re not facing up to? What action can you take today to make progress?
❔How can you change up your daily routine?
❔Who can you spark up a conversation with outside of your circle and what can you learn from them?
❔What skill have you longed to develop? How can you make this a priority?
Even if it’s something small, commit to challenging yourself in some way today. Note how it feels and what you learn from it. Then go for it again tomorrow!
