Here’s why sleep matters for diabetic health:

🔹 Blood Sugar Regulation: Poor sleep can lead to higher blood sugar levels and insulin resistance.
🔹 Hormone Balance: Lack of sleep disrupts hormones like cortisol, which can spike blood glucose.
🔹 Cravings & Energy: Less sleep = more cravings for carbs and sugar, making blood sugar harder to control.
🔹 Mood & Stress: Quality sleep helps manage stress, which directly impacts glucose levels.

It’s December 1st, and he’s already getting into trouble! Caught stealing my Lift bottle, guess he’s trying to steal my fast-acting glucose!

But don’t worry, Elfie, I’ve got Lift stashed everywhere to handle those pesky hypos:

Living with type 1 diabetes, I’ve learned the incredible benefits of strength training and staying active. I hit the gym 3 days a week to lift weights, and let me tell you, it’s been a game changer for my blood sugar control! 🏋️‍♀️

But it’s not just about the weights! I also make it a point to walk every day, aiming for an average of 45.000 steps a week. 🚶‍♀️ Yes, it’s tough sometimes, but I’ve discovered that this daily movement helps regulate my blood sugars and keeps my mind clear and focused.

Consistency is key! I used to be an all-or-nothing person, but now I’ve shifted my mindset to embrace doing something every single day. Whether it’s lifting, walking, or just stretching, every bit counts and adds up to better control and overall well-being.

So here’s to strength training, daily walks, and finding balance in our routines! Remember, it’s not about perfection; it’s about progress.

When managing type 1 diabetes, it’s important to choose snacks that are low in carbohydrates and have a low glycemic index to help maintain stable blood sugar levels.

Here are some of my favourite snacks that help to have a minimal impact on my blood sugar.

🥕Hummus & carrot sticks
🥚Hard boiled eggs (always in the fridge) - an excellent source of protein and healthy fats, making them a satisfying snack.
🥜Peanut butter and ryevita
🥜Nuts - almonds, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds are high in healthy fats and protein, which can help stabilise blood sugar levels.
🍒Cherries - are lower in sugar compared to other fruits and can be a great option.
🍫Curly wurly if I need a chocolate hit
