Everyone from the Hoey family would like to thank everyone for the kindness and support Sonia received to fight her cancer. She has been through a hard journey and it was thanks to everyone’s kindness with the go fund me page and all the countless different fundraisers & donations that made it possible for Sonia go to Mexico and also try different treatments along with chemo and radiation to stay alive.
The people in Dundalk really got behind Sonia and helped her have a more positive attitude towards her cancer because she felt backed by the town to face it. So to everyone who helped with such efforts we really can’t thank you enough. You’ve helped Sonia have more years to enjoy life and spend it with family and friends.

Sonia use to always love Ronaldo for his mentality but it’s Sonia’s mentality that deserved recognition. She had a smile throughout all of her treatment because she had such a positive attitude. A true warrior! May she rest in peace. She truly deserves it 🔵🟡 🔴🟢 ⚫️⚪️

Hi folks,

Funeral & guard of honour arrangements for tomorrow.

There will be a guard of honour,
Everyone who played Gaelic or soccer with Sonia is welcome, the more the better as Sonia and the family want it to be big & all about football and dedicated to Sonias amazing career.

If participating in the guard of honour please Park on Ecco road or at Dunnes Ard Easmuinn before the funeral so you can get your cars out quickly after the mass to setup at Sonia’s house on the newry road.

Guard of honour will meet at Redeemer church at latest 10:25 to get Dowdallshill & Dundalk jerseys and line up from the entrance to the house for the removal at 10:40.

After the mass guard of honour will need to jump in the cars and head to the newry road.

The hearse is going to go into oriel park as they are doing a guard of honour also, family cars and hearse only will be allowed in, all other cars will be stopped by the Gardai to allow family and hearse to re join the road to proceed down into the town with other cars behind. The St Brigids festival lights at the square will be turned on for Sonia and then the procession will go over the old Newry bridge.

Guard of honour will line up then at Sonia’s own house at Brickfield Gardens on the Newry road. So please park in Aldi or at the Lisdoo.

When the hearse reaches Brickfield it will stop so the guard of honour will line up infront of the herse at either side and walk with it to Dowdallshill grave yard, all the way through the grave yard and to the grave at the bottom of the graveyard.

All cars and guard of honour please follow gardai and stewards directions.

Hope everyone is keeping well and let’s give Sonia the biggest and best send off she deserves
