I have a tendency to get stressed out in the mornings! Before I had kids I used to prefer no-one spoke to me until my brain had a chance to wake up and be fully functioning to process any questions or responses needed (usually after a coffee or a good half hour🙈😂)

But these days with a four year old, eight year old and a mischievous eight month pup, that luxury is well and truly gone😢

I often get wound up with the noise and time pressure of getting everyone out the door to school and Montessori. By the time I think of using the tools I have to reign in the building up of anxious feelings they have taking hold.

Today I caught myself starting to feel edgy. Instead of trying to power through to get it all done I stopped and reached for my oils. 🌲🌳🌿

I took 2 drops of Black Spruce oil and added a few drops of fractionated coconut oil to it. I rubbed it between my hands and placed one hand on my lower abdomen and the other on my lower back(right down by the sacrum). I held my hands there gently, closed my eyes and took slow deep breaths in and out.

While standing there I could feel the air and bodies rushing by as my kids ran literal circles around me and the house chasing each other and shouting. I could feel the calm returning to me, the grounding down away from flighty erratic thoughts and worries.

After a few minutes my son stopped and asked me “How are you so calm mum?” (A testament to how not calm that behaviour would normally make me 🙈😂)

Self care is so important and it doesn’t have to be an hour long bath or massage or day away. It’s in the moments and minutes that we take to re-centre and ground ourselves and remember the peace and joy✨💜 ...... now if I can just remember that tomorrow morning when we are back in the madness that will be fab🤣

Still time to book a slot for Tuesday’s class on essential oil basics where we will be learning simple everyday techniques to support your body. Link is in my bio ... 11am or 9pm class available.

I often go to my box of oils and pick from them using just a sense of what is calling me in. Then look up how the oil supports me.

This morning I was clearing the dishes, nowhere near the oils and sandalwood jumped into my consciousness..... in a “I need to diffuse sandalwood today “ way.

Sandalwood isn’t an oil I diffuse much.... it’s such a beautiful comforting oil and as it is much more difficult to source and precious it cost more... so I tend to keep it for special occasions 🤷‍♀️

With all that is going on in the world at the moment I guess my soul is telling me I need to use the tools I have to hand to support myself.

I’ve added some helichrysum and Frankie to my diffuser too and am enjoying the trio of sacred oils unraveling my nervous system. Check out the fabulous Emotions and oils book to read about how the oils can support you on an emotional level✨💜

I don't know about you but home schooling has not exactly gone to plan here..... like pulling teeth and as someone who literally had a tooth pulled a few weeks ago I don't use the term lightly!!

If I get 15 minutes out of him a day I am doing well! I am more than happy that at 7 years old he will be grand when he gets back into the swing of it but a certain amount of mum guilt has had me trying to get him to do even a little bit of the weeks curriculum. I have definitely found that using Thinker on the back of his neck and wrists has helped him to get stuck in to some official learning and engage the brain.

The rest of time we are all about the school of life.... cooking, playing, reading, building and most importantly loads of outdoor fun while the weather is good!

Evenings before bed as part of the wind-down routine plus if we have a blow out during the day it’s a winner. Lavender is so calming, it’s one of my 7yr olds favourites 🥰

I use Stronger every day on my two. I roll it along their spines from top to bottom every evening before bed. It’s given me some peace of mind over the last few months knowing their immune system is supported💪🏻 I’m able to roll it straight on as they are already diluted and safe for kids delicate skin 😊

We love the kids collection in my house. My younger one hates strong smells so the milder aroma of these ones have meant I can get oils on her when she needs them. This week I'm going to deep dive into each of the blends and how we use them.

I love picking oils intuitively and then looking through my emotions and oils book to see what way they will support me . 🌿🌻

Rosemary so beautiful in learning.... which I am doing day by day and now reading that it is supportive in transition... how appropriate for these changing times.

Red Mandarin is not one I have thought to reach for often. Navigating this time of full on parenting has had its ups and downs for me and no doubt others. How beautiful to be supported in remembering childlike miracles and magic and the simple special moments. ✨🤸🏻🏰🗼

It’s uncertain times for everyone at the moment. We are doing our best to be honest with the kids without causing anxiety around what is going on.

Our 3yr old is oblivious, happily going about her business, which is fab! I’ve asked my 7yr old what he makes of the whole virus thing and he said he thinks the school are being careful with them.

There had been no dooms day talk around them but kids pick up on our feelings and the snippets of information on radio or between adults.

My 7yr old had an all time blow out this morning...... because his sister was wrecking the den he built her and not helping to fix it🤯

So as much as I would have liked to get some lavender on him, until he calmed down enough to talk to him, that Lavender was for me!

I took a few drops, took some deep inhales, diluted with coconut oil, rubbed on my heart space and reminded myself that this was likely an over flow of big emotions he hasn’t figured out how to express that needed to come out.

I sat on the ground outside his door and told him I was there when he was ready to talk......an improvement from the initial frustration I felt initially at his outburst 💜
