This is an invitation to check in with your energy as the week comes to a close, not to judge it or change it, just to become aware of it.

Some weeks leave us feeling full and steady. Some leave us stretched or quiet. Sometimes it’s a mix of everything.

Wherever you find yourself today, noticing is enough.

If you’d like to share, how would you describe your energy right now?

If you’ve been curious about what it might be like to explore your inner world in a group setting, here’s another excerpt from my recent conversation with Myriam Hadnes on her podcast Workshops Work, where I share a little more about my Self-Exploration through Expressive Arts Retreats.

In this clip, I speak about how the group can become part of your process. Some people choose to bring their story into the space by inviting others to help embody or reflect parts of it, allowing them to witness their experience from the outside. Others might step into the process more directly, for example by playing their younger self.

There isn’t one right way to participate.
You can observe.
You can step in.
You can move between both.

All of it can be powerful.

If this way of working speaks to you, my next expressive arts retreat is coming up 11–13 April. It’s a space to explore at your own pace, supported by the creative process and the presence of others.

You’re very welcome to join the next group experience.

Feel free to reach out at paulashort@me.com if you’d like more details, or ask a question in the comments below 👇🏻

As the week winds down, it can be helpful to notice how it felt overall. Sometimes a word, a tone, or even a colour captures something meaningful about where you are right now. Naming it can be a small way of acknowledging yourself and all that you’ve moved through.

If you’d like, share yours in the comments, or simply take a moment to notice it for yourself.

The 𝐒𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭 isn’t about being good at art or expressing something perfectly.
It’s about allowing the creative process to lead and seeing what comes up when you listen to yourself in a different way.

Through drama, art, music, storytelling and play, participants process their own material as well as support others within the group.

If this speaks to you, you’re very welcome. The next retreat will take place 11-13 April in the West of Ireland. Please send me an email at paulashort@me.com to register your interest or to ask me any questions. 🎨

Four months to go until I walk the Clare Burren Marathon. Training is well underway now, and some days it feels full on, with blisters to prove it. Still, this walk carries meaning far beyond the kilometers. I’m doing it for my twin who didn’t make it, and for me who did. A way of honouring both, and of recognising that I am still here after the awfulness of last year.

I’m fundraising for 𝐅é𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐜á𝐢𝐧, whose work supports families living with the loss of a baby. What they offer matters deeply, and I’m grateful to be able to walk in support of them.

If you’d like to donate to Féileacáin, you can do so on https://eventmaster.ie/fundraising/pages/PS03136021 .

This month in the Support Programme we’re exploring 𝐀𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲, what it’s like to live more in alignment with your inner experience.

Living authentically can bring real and lasting benefits. There is often less inner conflict and self-contradiction, which can lead to greater emotional steadiness, reduced anxiety, and a deeper sense of being settled within ourselves.

It can also strengthen self-respect and self-trust, so we rely less on external approval or validation. When we’re more at ease with who we are, communication with others tends to become more honest, allowing for deeper connection and clearer boundaries.

Over time, this way of living can free up energy for creativity, engagement, and growth, and can support us in meeting change and difficulty with more resilience.

This week, we’re turning our attention toward who we truly are, using the creative project, reflective prompts, and the weekly audio grounding as ways to explore this. If it feels supportive, you’re invited to share, reflect, or reach out within the community as you move through the weeks.

Before the weekend begins, pause for a moment and notice one thing from this week that brought you warmth, comfort, or a smile.

A moment of gratitude can help us feel a little lighter and more present.

💛 What’s one thing you’re grateful for this week? Feel free to share it in the comments, I’d love to hear.

The retreat experience isn’t shaped only by what we do together in the sessions.

It’s also shaped by the place that holds us, the food that nourishes us, and the small moments in between, walking outside in the beautiful surroundings of Cartron House, sharing meals, and resting.

All of these elements matter, and together they create the conditions for people to soften, settle, and engage more fully with what’s unfolding.

The Expressive Arts Retreat takes place this April at Cartron House, in the west of Ireland.

Lunch and dinner are included each day, and B&B is available.

Have you attended a retreat before? What made it special for you?

Before the weekend begins, pause for a moment and notice one small win from your week.

Even the tiniest victories matter, and recognising them can help you carry a little more ease into the days ahead. ✨
