First Aid Response

The First Aid Response course - formally known as Occupational First Aid course is designed to provide the learner with the understanding, knowledge and practical skills required to provide and coordinate first aid in the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2007 and its accompanying Regulations and Guidelines.

This course will utilize both theory and practical learning which will encourage student participation and feedback and ensure strong knowledge of practical skills.

COURSE CONTENT
• Patient assessment.
• Incident procedure.
• Common Medical Emergencies. (Asthma, Diabetes, Seizures, Poisoning)
• CPR Adult/ Infant/ Child.
• Injury management & Shock.
• Care of unconscious patient.
• Burns & Electrical injury care.
• Hypothermia & Hyperthermia.
• Information management.
• Well-being of a first aid responder.

ASSESSMENT
Participants who successfully pass the assessments will be issued with a PHECC First Aid Responder
Certificate.
The certificate is valid for two years and indefinitely on attending a Refresher Course every two
years.

The First Aid Responder course, is a replacement for Occupational First Aid that is recognized by the HSA from 1st November 2016, is aimed at those persons within an organization with responsibility for first response, first aid treatment in the workplace.
