Coffee Musings!
I was musing today over the saying "Comparison is the thief of joy!" and it is so true. Comparison takes us out of the present to a place that's not real, that does not apply to us as no two situations are the same.
A lot of the comparsionitis going on out there is being blamed on social media and it is a big factor. However, I know for me it started in childhood, being told on a regular basis during our summer holidays how much the neighbouring children were doing compared to us! Like they had the windows cleaned and the clothes hung out the line at 6am!!!! or they had all the turf saved months before anyone else.
It was interesting many years later having conversations with school friends and finding out they were hearing the same thing. Even though we can laugh at the madness of it and there was plenty of eyebrow raising at the time, there was an element of not enoughness about it. The comparisons we grew up with rarely in our favour can cause lack and not enough in your life now.
It can cause you to miss moments in your life and you can spend time looking around instead of right in front of you instead of giving gratitude for what you have and asking yourself "what do I want for me?"
And the big question is what am I comparing to? Do we really know the story behind the story or the story behind the image?
So, I feel time is better spend going within, connecting with that part of you that may not feel enough and nurture it and reassure it that you are plenty, you have so much to give, the contribution to give to the world is plenty and your world is plentiful.
This is what is life changing and opens the way for more.
So, when the comparisonitis starts to creep in, remember you are a beautiful divine soul and are on this earth for a reason and that is more than enough.
