Happy Social Prescribing Day! 🌿✨

This morning, Sarah was out at the Boardwalk in Carrick, promoting the service and encouraging connection in the best way—through a few fun games of Connect 4! A big thank you to everyone who stopped by for a chat and a game. It was lovely to see so many people taking a moment to connect and enjoy themselves.

In the afternoon. we hosted a Vision Board workshop, and we’re so grateful to everyone who joined us. Your creativity, positivity, and openness made it such a meaningful and inspiring session.

Days like today remind us how important connection, community, and wellbeing truly are. 💚

Special thank you to Mandie for braving the rain and joining me to play Connect 4

Women Weaving Connections - Cross Border Women’s Programme
Are you a woman living in Co. Leitrim?
Are you interested in connecting with women from communities across the border to explore issues and challenges facing women in local communities?

If Yes, then join our exciting new cross border programme and connect with women across Leitrim and Northern Ireland - share experiences, learn about each other’s lives and communities, identify common issues and challenges. Come together in a supportive environment and build connections, friendships and explore ways to bring about positive changes in women lives and local communities.

The programme aims to build connections and relationships between the women and the groups involved, through meaningful conversations on issues that affect their lives and their communities, providing a unique opportunity for the women involved to come together to share skills and life experiences and identify common issues and challenges.

The programme will consist of 5 'On-Line Connecting Workshop' delivered via Zoom: 7.00pm - 9.00pm on:

Wednesday 8th April
Wednesday 15th April
Wednesday 22nd April
Wednesday 29th April
Wednesday 6th May

The project will culminate in a face to face residential on the 13-14th of May 2026 - a wonderful opportunity for all the women involved to meet face to face, connect and look towards the future collectively. All expenses associated with the residential will be covered & transport will be provided.

The project is open to women from across the county, we are particularly interested in women from the south of the county and women who have moved here and made Leitrim their home.

Places are strictly limited - to register your interest click on the link below.

Dear Friends,
This Christmas, the National Traveller Men’s Forum (N.T.M.F.) is reaching out with our annual Shoe Box Appeal — supporting boys, girls, and adults in emergency accommodation and those living on the streets.
While many face a difficult winter and the government can’t always meet every need, we can do our part to bring warmth, comfort, and hope. Every small act of kindness matters.
How it works:
Find an empty shoe box.
Fill it with gifts and useful items (see below).
Wrap and label it — Boy/Girl/Adult, and include an age if possible.
Drop it off by December 15th.

What to include:
🎁 Small toys or books
🎨 Art supplies
🧴 Toiletries
🧤 Warm accessories (hats, gloves, socks)
🍬 Sweets and treats

Together, we can remind people who are struggling that they are cared for and not forgotten. A simple shoebox can bring a smile, comfort, and the warmth of community spirit this Christmas.

If you’d like to take part or arrange a drop-off, please contact:
📧 chrisstokes@ldco.ie
📞 085 208 5301
or alternatively your box can be dropped off here at:
Shannonside Community Centre, Rosebank, Carrick on Shannon
N41 DY99

Let’s spread warmth and joy this winter — because even when others can’t, we can make a difference.
