When we have negative thoughts they are often because we have a self limiting belief system. A quick exercise to do when negative thoughts appear is the ABCDE

A=Activating event or issue - that caused certain thoughts, mood changes or physical sensations.

B=The beliefs associated with the activating event. Example "I cant do this"

C=What where the consequences. How do you feel as a result of "B" and any associated behaviours.

D=Debate. Debate the negative self talk. Change it. An example "I can do this I have more to learn, and I can learn through doing".

E=Evaluate. evaluate the effects of column "D". Now how are you feeling and behaving as a result of challenging the negative self talk.

People who score low on this EI factor often have feelings of inadequacy/inferiority. These feelings influence depression symptoms, frustration and interfere with the person's daily functioning and accomplishing personal goals. They are surviving life rather than being present and enjoying life.
