• TAKING RESPONSIBILITY •

Ahhh, the R word that nobody likes 🙈

Responsibility is a word that can sometimes make our spine shiver. But really, it provides us with great power.

As Mark Manson says in his book, “The Subtle Art of not giving a f*ck”, the phrase (nouns switch up from the Spider-man quote): “With great responsibility comes great power”

When sometime bad or negative happens, we tend to blame external factors, come up with excuses or just not acknowledge it.

When something happens to you, in your life, you choose how you respond or react. Having no response is a still a response.

When it comes to our actions, we fear at the thought of being responsibile. Responsibility shouldn’t be something that we fear but something we should chase.

You have the power to decide what happens right here & now with your life. I mean, that’s pretty sweet?

When we start accepting the responsibility for our problems or situations, we can thus start solving them.

Our faults are in the past, we can’t change them. But, you have the power to taking action on the present.

Choose and act the way you deem is suitable for you & the life you want.

• Enjoying Your Own Journey •

The grass can seem greener on the other side 🌱

However, as we all know it’s not always the case.

When I was in college I couldn’t wait to be finished my degree and get working in the “real world” 👩‍💻
Now, I sometimes miss the student life of just worrying about the next exam coming my way 😂

During the depths of prep I couldn’t wait to eat more to gain more muscle. Now while I’m in a gaining phase, sometimes I just can’t wait to see the shreds in my next prep and to unveil the muscle tissue I have grown 💪

This just shows no matter where you’re at you in your life and your journey you need to try and enjoy what you are doing and have in this space of time.

Or else you will be constantly looking into the future and not getting to truly appreciate what you have going for you right now 🤩🥰

• DON’T FEEL GUILTY ABOUT REST DAYS •

No matter what your fitness goal is, rests days are fundamental for our bodies and mind. One day or one week will not affect your progress, Sometimes we fear of taking rest days because we fear it may result in weight gain, lack of progress or loss of strength. But really this isn’t the case of what can happen!

➡️ Why take rest days:

Muscle recovery
Restock glycogen stores
Minimise fatigue
Refresh mental and physical energy

➡️ What can happen if we don't take rest days:
Injuries
Burnout
Muscle fatigue
Illness
Poor workout performance

➡️ How to spend rest days:

Get adequate sleep
Go for a walk
Spend time with family & friends
Keep hydrated
Stretch & mobility work
Eat
Relax!

So the next time you have a designated rest, don’t feel guilty- enjoy it! 👌🏼

•Gym Anxiety•

Are you feeling anxious about going back to the gym or beginning your fitness journey?

We have all been there. Don’t worry it’s normal ❤️

Imagine this. You go to the gym tomorrow. Begin eating best for you and your body and training to improve yourself. You start seeing changes. Not just physically but mentally. You feel amazing and have nailed a routine that you enjoy.

The thing is. YOU CAN DO IT!

The first step is the biggest to take.

Once you take that step. The rest is history.

A few little tips to get to that first step:
1️⃣ Be accountable: whether you hire a coach (*insert mandatory plug* 😘) or tell a close friend/family that you are going to the gym will help make sure you begin. With the added bonus of a support system ❤️

2️⃣ Plan: plan out your whole session so that you know exactly what you are going in to do.

3️⃣ Playlist: get the best music you can find & have fun during the session as well as making progress 💪 (hit up our fiitsis playlist in our bio 😘)

4️⃣ Small steps: you don’t have to go to the gym 6 times a week. Start off with a routine that you feel you are capable of doing. For example, start with 3 weights sessions per week and once you feel you can do 4/5 sessions you can add them in 👏

5️⃣ Goals: create some goals you want to achieve while going to the gym. These don’t need to be outrageous! The smaller wins will lead you to the big win ❤️ Focus on your goals daily and weekly rather than focusing on just the end goal because focusing on the end goal alone can be daunting 💖 Plus those small wins will keep you determined to keep returning to the gym week in and week out 💪

We hope this helped & if you want to reach out and ask us anything we are always here for you ❤️🥰

• Comfort Zone •

In order for us to grow in all elements of life, we have to sometimes step out of our comfort zone. It can be scary and exciting at the same time.

When it came to the starting to share our progress photos/videos here, it was beyond nerve-wracking. Jess would tell Alexa just do it when Alexa was nervous and vice versa. It’s good that we have each other during this journey to support and encourage each other each day. So, from tomorrow, we’ll start to share more photos and videos on our feed & stories so you can follow this journey with us.

You can’t be committed to your dream & your comfort zone at the same time & we’re learning this everyday. We constantly remind ourselves, we are on this incredible & unique journey of being athletes, for us and us only. Like any new & challenging journey, we’re learning, adapting & growing everyday both about our bodies and minds, but also our relationship as sisters. It’s quite a unique experience & we’re excited for what the next 12 weeks bring!

• Best Ingredient •

Do you want to know what the best ingredient & tool is for your fitness journey?

➡️ Patience ⬅️

It’s easier said than done but no matter what your goal is, trust the timing in your progress. We tend to forget that every body has a different body, different genetics, different goals etc. We can get lost by looking at others ‘transformations’ and others bodies that we forget to focus on our own.

Everyone is on their own path and if we stay consistent, the right time will come. We can be both a masterpieces and a work in progress at the same time. Progress is still progress no matter how big or small- slow and steady wins the race 🐢❤️

•BEGINNING SOMETHING NEW•

Beginning something new whether it’s taking up a new habit, hobby or sport is very exciting 🎉

However, it’s also very challenging, which excites or terrifies people!

I haven’t tried something new in a while so I forgot about these feelings of excitement and vulnerability.

I began posing practice about 4 weeks ago and I haven’t been as nervous in ages 😂

I love a challenge but that uncomfortable feeling of knowing you aren’t great at something yet can be disheartening (especially for a high achieving perfectionist 😅). I have practiced a lot over the last few weeks to improve my posing and it really shows! I have had lots of stumbles throughout my practicing but each stumble is a learning point 👏

Practice truly does make perfect! If you are trying something new at the moment or thinking about starting something new don’t be too hard on yourself in the beginning. It’s difficult to take up something new as it is. Be kind to yourself and see the improvements you make along the way rather than the errors ✅

Use the errors as your learning tools to be better ❤️

I can’t wait to share my improvements in posing with you over the next few weeks 🥰

Very exciting times incoming 🚀💪
