Last night, we held our “go live” training. This was the final step in our training which has consisted of many online and in person training sessions.

Thanks to John McShane Community engagement manager from the National Ambulance Service (NAS) for delivering this training and for his guidance and support in getting us to this point!

We were also delighted to have Melua back with us who has inspired us from the beginning of our journey having been saved by the quick response of his local CFR group in Rosses Point - really showing the impact that community first responders can have ❤️ .

We are proud to announce that 23 first responders have been fully trained in our greater Riverstwon area and will be ready for emergency calls in the coming weeks once we get our offical green light. Thank you to this dedicated group who have given up so much of their time to get this group off the ground 👏 .

Watch this space for our official community start date.

We made the most of the good weather this week and took our volunteer training and practice session outdoors!

Check out some of volunteers modelling the new official Riverstown first responder high vis jackets and first aid kits 📸

Big thank you to Michael from Lough Arrow CFR Group for facilitating the training, Shamrock Gaels for use of their facilities and space and our dedicated group of volunteers.

We would also like to thank those who donated in the past which helped to fund the first aid kit bag for our volunteers, Marina Swan and Riverstown totalhealth Pharmacy for providing items for the bags and to Alex Byrne EIL for sponsoring the high vis jackets

We couldn’t do it without all of your support ❤️

Stay tuned for our official go live date in the community…

Scenario training last night - this was further upskilling of our volunteers to help navigate different types of situations which they may come across common and not. This session was kindly provided by the Culfadda Community Defibrillator group - completely community led, a big thank you for your time and expertise and thank you as always to our passionate dedicated group of volunteers.

This was also a great opportunity to trial different types of training equipment, as we are in the process of purchasing our own training equipment such as mannequins and AEDs!

We have been humbled by the support that we have received by our local community.

Yesterday, some of our committee members were presented with a cheque of €2460 - the remaining monies as a result of a recent fundraiser for the new Knockanarrow defib.

We will be using this donation to ensure the maintenance and continuity of the local defibrillators (replacement pads, units etc), training equipment and packs for our responders.

This new defibrillator unit, you may have spotted already is located at the Knockanarrow crossroad on the L1302 at eircode F52 XN66.
It is great to have another unit added to the community. This defib does not have a code and can be used on adults and children (green button child mode).

Thank you to the McGann family for having the unit on their property and supplying the electricity.

Thank you to Liam Brennan and Sharon Merrick for driving this.
