Daylight is in short supply at this time of year with dark mornings, wet dull days and the evenings drawing in close. I often struggle with this at this time of year, sometimes the walls feel like they're closing in around me and my sleep can be interrupted and not refreshing at all.
I do a few things to combat this
1) get outside for a little bit early in the day. 10 to 15 minutes first thing in the morning can help to balance melatonin levels which are important for sleep. Even better if you can do this before looking at a screen.
2) Use every excuse to get outside during the day. Take a walk while making a phonecall or going to the shop for milk. Walk the kids to school.
3) Get outside around midday for a few minutes when the light is at its brightest.
4) try and work near a bright window.
5) At times when I can't get out in daylight I get outside in the dark anyway for some air which still helps. As much as I don't feel like it, I always feel better afterwards.
6) A good set of waterproofs are a must!
