An abhorrent figure.

It’s a vital, lifesaving service that needs to be respected.

Last year, our crews responded to 703 hoax calls.
So far in 2025, we’ve already received 458 hoax calls - and the year isn’t over yet.

In September 2024, we received 79 hoax calls; one of our busiest months for false alarms. This September, that number was 51.

It’s a step in the right direction, but still 51 times a real patient might have waited longer for help.

Every hoax call ties up an ambulance that could be saving a life. Please, think before you dial.

A reminder to parents.

Two young boys escaped serious injury, earlier today in Listowel, as they were involved in a collision with a car whilst driving together on an e-scooter.

Gardai must have parental support to prevent these incidents from happening and help us to keep their children safe.

Since 20th May 2024 e scooter users must =

*be 16 years or older
*obey a speed limit of 20km/h
*drive on the left -allowed in cycle lanes or bus lanes and on regional or national roads
*have lights, a bell or audible warning device, reflectors, brakes and it must be kept in a roadworthy condition at all times
*follow the same rules of the road that apply to cyclists, including traffic lights, road signs and all types of pedestrian crossings
*obey signals given by a Garda or school warden

E scooter users must not -

*use footpaths, pedestrianised areas or motorways
*hold or use a mobile phone
*have a seat on their e scooter
*carry passengers or goods
