“When you are fully gentle without arrogance... You see the brilliance of the universe.”
I was revisiting the writings of Chögyam Trungpa, the father of contemplative photography,
Specifically from his masterpiece, Shambhala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior.
In a world that equates strength with force, he reminds us that true bravery is actually Gentleness.
He invites us to lower our gaze from the “grand” things and appreciate the smallest details.
To notice “a striped grasshopper with a tinge of copper.”
Reading this, I looked up. I didn’t see copper.
But my eyes rested on this vibrant green one right in front of me.
And for a moment, the noise of the world faded.
This moment of attention is not the whole method, but it is the gateway to The Kind Gaze™️.
Before we can analyze, process, or heal, we must first learn to simply see.
To treat the world (and ourselves) with that same gentleness.
This practice speaks especially to those who spend their lives holding space for others.
This April in Portugal, we will dive deep into the full methodology,
but we will start right here: Walking slowly. Looking closely.
Discovering that the world is fascinating wherever you look.
This is where my work always begins. With gentleness. With attention
Registration for our immersion in Portugal (April 2026) is open.
