Chris McAlister
Chris encountered Oriental medicine while extremely sick in East Asia in 1986. Sessions with practitioners from Tibetan, Ayurvedic, Homeopathic and finally Chinese medicine showed him both the immediate and the long term benefits of traditional, holistic practices.
He began his formal Shiatsu studies in the UK, studying at two different schools simultaneously, and continued during a five-year stay in Japan with Takeo Suzuki, a close student of Masunaga’s final years.
Chris has also studied acupuncture with British, Chinese and Japanese practitioners, Qigong with a daoist master, martial arts as a live-in student with a master in Canton and Tai ji Chuan with among others Chen Pei Shan, lineage holder within Chen family traditional style.
Back in Europe, he studied Chinese herbs with Ted Kaptchuk and settled down in Sweden where he has been treating and teaching ever since. Chris has taught extensively in Israel, Italy, Norway, the UK and the US.
