There’s a kind of faith that changes recovery…what is it? ➡️

It’s not blind positivity.
It’s not forcing yourself to believe before you’re ready.
It’s not pretending you’re okay when you’re terrified.

It’s the kind of faith Lori talked about in this conversation:

I can get through this.
My body can come back.
There is an end to this.

At first, she didn’t fully buy into any of it.
She said she thought the same as everyone else: you go to the doctor, get a prescription, get better, and move on.

But she kept doing the work anyway.

And over time, something shifted.

The fear started to dissolve.
Her mindset changed.
She started seeing results.
She started believing she could do things again.
And little by little, she started living again.

That’s the part I really want people to hear:

You do not need perfect belief to begin.
Sometimes healing starts with baby steps before full confidence ever arrives.

Thank you to everyone who watched, commented, and showed up for our latest TMS RoundTable — with the wonderful Jeannie Kulwin as co-host.

Lori's recovery story!! Interstitial cystitis, restless legs, chronic fatigue, and a medical system that ran out of answers.

This is one of the most grounded, real accounts I've heard. Grateful she found her way here.

There are thoughts that hurt and there are thoughts that heal...what's the difference? ➡️

The difference isn't about positive thinking. It's about where the thought lands in your nervous system.

Thoughts that hurt: Why isn't this working? I've been doing this for months. What if I never get better? Something must be wrong with me.

They send a continuous danger signal to your nervous system. And a nervous system reading danger cannot heal.

Thoughts that heal: My nervous system is doing its job. I can meet this moment. This is a sensation.

I'm stronger than this. I've moved through this before.

They send safety signals from the mind into the body.

And I'm not talking about toxic positivity. I'm not asking you to pretend the symptoms aren't real.

But there's a difference between saying "I am safe" and actually letting that land into your body.

The first one's in your head. The second is moving into your body.

In this episode, I break down three thinking traps and share three simple body-based practices to help your nervous system finally feel safe enough to heal.

Comment "Somatic" and I'll send you the full episode. 💙

The more you try to figure it out, the further away it gets.

That's what happens when you try to solve a nervous system problem with a thinking brain. The mind goes to work — researching, analyzing, trying to find the answer — and all that effort sends one continuous message to your body: something is wrong here.

The nervous system doesn't heal through understanding. It heals through experience.

Through practice. Through feeling safe in the body, not just knowing you should.

Swipe through for three simple body practices you can start using today.

And if you're ready to stop navigating this alone, the Recovery Circle is a weekly space to keep practicing with people who get it.

THEME OF THE MONTH...
Getting out of your Head
and into your Body🧘

Rubbing your hands together is a somatic grounding technique that can help regulate the nervous system by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, the body's "rest and digest" state.
YouTube +1
This practice works through several physiological and psychological mechanisms:
Cortisol Reduction: Research indicates that rhythmic self-touch, such as slowly rubbing palms together (similar to washing hands), can significantly lower cortisol levels following a stressful event.
Sensory Anchoring: The friction creates warmth and a distinct sound, which serve as sensory anchors to pull the mind away from anxious thoughts and back into the present moment.
Acupressure Activation: In traditional practices like Shiatsu, the center of the palm contains the "Palace of Anxiety" (Pericardium 😎 point; stimulating this area is believed to influence emotional states and regulate circulation.
Neurological Stimulation: Hands have a high concentration of nerve endings. Vigorous rubbing can "awaken" the system in the morning or provide a mindful distraction that helps the mind slow down.

How to Practice
Rub Palms Together: Vigorously rub your palms until you feel noticeable heat.
Mindful Awareness: Focus on the sensation of warmth, the sound of the friction, and your breath.
Placement: Once warm, place your palms over your eyes, face, or chest to transfer the soothing heat to other parts of the nervous system.
Self-Havening: For deeper regulation, transition from palm rubbing to Self-Havening by gently stroking your upper arms from shoulders to elbows.

WEEKEND MESSAGE OF CALM AND SAFTEY....

Coming out of the head and into the body involves transitioning from a state of overthinking, anxiety, or dissociation into a state of present-moment awareness, where movement is used to signal safety to the nervous system.
By leaning into movement, you allow the body to release stored tension, shift from a "fight or flight" mode to a calm state, and rebuild a sense of inner security.

Beth Winkler is a certified pain specialist. And she explained something on TMS Roundtable that I think a lot of you need to hear.

The pain threshold is here. This is where you experience pain.

If you fly under the radar and stay in bed because you're too scared, no change is going to happen.

Then there's the other side. Boom or bust. You barrel through. You get it done. And then you're in bed the next day or two.

No change happens there either because you're stressing the system too much.

We have to find the sweet spot where we kind of kiss it, touch it, nudge it. Go through just a little bit.

There are days where that might be too much or that might not be enough. And it's okay because it is a process. Recovery is not a straight line.

And when those symptoms happen, that's when somatic tracking and pain reprocessing come in.
Instead of reacting with fear, just know: I didn't push my muscles too much. I pushed my nervous system too much.

That's the sweet spot.
