🤸🏼‍♂️ Teacher Trainings With a background as both a lawyer and an academic, Nicki’s discovery of yoga was epiphanic.

She moved from South Africa where she was born and raised, to Antwerp, Belgium at a moment where the local practice of yoga was in its infancy. Her life’s path shifted profoundly as Nicki began to explore yoga through intense practice and theoretical study. Nicki was fortunate to learn and practice under various teachers and masters over the course of 2 decades. She is a registered yoga teacher (RYT) of the Yoga Alliance, certified in diverse yogic lineages including Ashtanga Vinyasa, Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, and is a certified Kundalini Yoga and Meditation Teacher through Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) as well as a prenatal yoga teacher trained in the Khalsa Way and other prenatal practices. Her areas of training include teaching yoga to children and yoga for emotional release. Nicki Forman is the founder of Aruna Yoga, a syncretic yoga practice drawing on multiple yogic lineages with a focus on releasing stress, tension, and emotional blocks and bringing the practitioner to a state of optimal well-being. She offers weekly classes, trainings, retreats and workshops and hosting of guest teachers in Israel and internationally for the last 20 years. She is also the creator of the Aruna Yoga Teacher Training, an international training registered according to the Yoga Alliance 200 hour standards. Nicki is also a certified Trauma Release Provider as developed by Dr David Berceli as well as a certified Journey Practitioner of The Journey Method, as developed by Brandon Bays. She now lives in Israel where she teaches both locally and internationally.

Some reflections from a retreat I was privileged to lead through AmalTikva, sharing Aruna Yoga and TRE with Israeli and Palestinian peacebuilders to foster resilience.

This retreat for ATLI alumni was a profound honour. Supporting those impacted by this ongoing conflict and witnessing their courage to keep showing up for peace moved me deeply. Through the body, we open pathways for release, grounding, and presence. Yoga and somatic work offer a wholly accessible way to process what is stuck and held in the body through sensation, breath, and nervous system restoration, while offering tools that can be woven into daily life to sustain resilience and support long after the retreat ends.

I returned hopeful and inspired, committed to bringing these tools more actively to those who need them most. Creating space for wellbeing, safety, and community for peacebuilders felt like sacred work. To offer a bridge through embodiment, emotional release, yoga and TRE is a privilege. I pray to be able to continue and expand exponentially.
