Mahavatar Babaji Maharaj and Mataji
Babaji is an immortal avatar who was born on the eastern coast of India in 203 AD as the boy Nagaraj. The story goes that he was kidnapped by pirates as a child and sold into slavery. His owner recognized special gifts in the boy and released him to wander and study.
He was initiated in Kundalini Yoga by the greatest teacher of that time. While still in his teens, he achieved immortality through the practice of Siddha Yoga and Siddha medicine. Babaji added his enhancements to Kundalini Yoga, renaming it Kriya, and gave us the powerful Cosmic Cobra Breath, his most precious gift to humanity.
"Babaji" is a title, meaning "honored father" a title used by many spiritual leaders. The immortal Babaji Nagaraj is unique, not to be confused with others.
An avatar is a perfect manifestation of Divinity in human form. Avatars live in continual full consciousness of their Divine nature, an example of what is possible for humankind
Babaji is called the MoolaGuru ~ expert of Mooladhara, the root chakra and seat of Kundalini. He has taken responsibility for the yogic education of the souls incarnated on Earth. He encourages and supports anyone who wishes to become a Babaji. His presence brings a sense of great comfort, that all is well and that you are protected and appreciated. It is the energy of pure unconditional love.
To attune yourself to Babaji you can do so through the Kriya practices, gazing at the yantra that represents his energy, meditating on his image or by repeating the mantra that invites that energy into your being: "Om Kriya Babaji Namah Aum."
Babaji lives in an ashram high in the Himalayas, said to be a shangri-la with meadows, waterfalls and perfect climate. He lives with his beautiful consort Mataji, who has also attained immortality. She is referred to in most Kriya systems as his sister but, acknowledging Babaji as a ta***ic master, we recognize her as his partner.
Mataji, spiritual companion of Babaji, is a mysterious figure about which little is known, other than the entries in "Autobiography of a Yogi" or "Voice of Babaji."
In India it is common for saints (even the gods) appear in a masculine way and his female counterpart. The male aspect is like Shiva, the principle of consciousness, and the female is Shakti, energy manifestation of that principle. As with Shiva and Shakti, the male principle worships the feminine principle of energy, and the feminine principle worships the male principle of consciousness.
Mataji is said to have the same spiritual development Babaji, but has chosen to follow the role of disciple, serving Babaji, his teacher. Thus, she is the embodiment of the perfect disciple. It is said to be harder to find a good disciple a good teacher. In the second initiation one can receive the mantra of Mataji and develop a personal relationship with her can become guru student.
A famous story explains how Babaji Mataji got retained his physical body for the benefit of all devotees. This fact is told in "Autobiography of a Yogi" and "The Voice of Babaji"
"At midnight, suddenly, Lahiri Mahasaya ordered the hermit Ram Gopal Mazumdar who was alone and immediately, the ghat Dasasamedh in Varanasi. The order was carried out promptly. Ram Gopal sat in that isolated place and after time was astonished to see that a huge stone slab opened, revealing a hidden cave, which came Mataji, the sister of Babaji ecstatic, through a yogic levitation process. Soon after, Lahiri Mahasaya and Kriya Paramgurú materialized. All three fell at the feet of Babaji.
Babaji: "I shed my form and plunge into the Infinite."
Mataji, "Master, (pleadingly) have glimpsed your plan why you have to leave your body.?".
Babaji: "There is no difference between being visible or invisible".
Mataji: "Guru Deva, if there is no difference, please do not despise your way."
AUM! The beloved Master consented to retain his physical body, which would be visible only to a chosen few. Thus, a crisis of first degree Kriya movement was averted by the intervention of the holy sister. Jai Mataji! "
Mataji, the personification of compassion, got so Babaji bless his devotees preserving their physical body through the ages.
Mataji ashram in Badrinath secret
In 1953 V.T. Neelakantan (one of the authors of "The Voice of Babaji") visited the secret of Babaji ashram in Badrinath, Himalayas, by the grace of Babaji. The book "Babaji and tradition of Kriya Yoga of the 18 Siddhas" gives the description of Neelakantan of Mataji and her work at the Ashram:
Nagalakshmi Deviyar Mataji "(also called" Annai ")" Among the residents of the ashram's sister of Babaji was. "She wore a white cotton sari with a green border and a long red band above and around neck. According Nilakantan VT is a stunningly beautiful woman, with fair skin, thin and taller than his brother constitution. His face is quite long, prominent cheeks and forehead reminiscent of that of Kashi, the disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda, and Profile Nilakantan wife.
Annai Nagalakshmi Deviyar is responsible for organizing the ashram and serves in different ways to residents. Oversees the preparation of a single meal, simple and vegetarian, which is served at noon. The food promotes yogic lifestyle of the ashram. It deals especially a large plant care "tulasi" located above a "pitam" or temple more than a meter high. Adora every day "Tulasi Devi", a great devotee of Lord Krishna. The Lord gave Tulasi Devi's grace remain eternally in his presence as a sacred Tulasi plant in his celestial abode.
Annai cult favorite is the worship of the feet of her Lord, Babaji, in a ceremony called "Pada Pusai". "Pada" means "feet" and "pusai" means to worship with flowers. In this ceremony lovingly places the feet of Babaji on a silver tray, washes and anoints them with sesame oil, mung bean powder, milk and other fragrances or precious products. Then decorate your feet with "vibhuti" (ash mantra yagna fire), "Kumkuma" (red vermilion powder) and various flowers growing in the ashram. Among the disciples of Babaji only Amman and Annai have attained the deathless state of samadhi soruba (even deification of the body). His achievement reflects more than anything else the depth of his devotion to God, the supreme goal of Kriya Yoga. "
Mataji sadhana
"Now that we have overcome the limitations of ego consciousness, help all who ask. Annai particularly helps sadhaks of Kriya Yoga, meditation during the hour of midnight, to clear the subconscious mind using the first technique Meditation is taught in initiation into Kriya Dhyana Yoga. " This is called "sadhana (spiritual practice) Annai" a practice of meditation and mantras that takes place between 23:45 and 0:45 hours.
The purification of the subconscious or "chitta" mind is the key to spiritual realization. According to some, the word "siddha" is derived from the word "chitta". "Cittar" (pronounced "Siddhar") in Tamil. A siddha would be one who is a master of consciousness, one who has purified his Chitta or subconscious.
The first practice of meditation technique or shuddhi at that time is very beneficial, because at that time the next sleep subconscious is activated, surfacing its contents, so that they can be cleaned. Practice also printed in mind the pattern of detachment, which is useful for a more restful sleep, when we fall into unconsciousness. And finally, it is a good time to experience the grace of Mataji, the divine mother.
