Avatar Meher Baba's dearest Bhau, Baba's intimate mandali
member and the Chairman of His Trust, passed into Beloved
Baba's embrace on Wednesday, 23rd October 2013, at 11:17
p.m., faithful in love and service to his Master till the
end.

Bhau went to Baba in the Jehangir Hospital ICU in Pune,
attended by his wife Rama, children Sheela and Mehernath,
and very close family. He was 87 years old, and passed away
due to a long illness complicated by recurrent infections.

Bhauji’s family, and all at Meherazad, Meherabad and Meher
Nazar join Baba lovers around the world in a united tribute
to dearest Bhauji’s unforgettable life. He was the last
remaining member of Baba's Meherazad resident mandali, the
Chairman of the Avatar Meher Baba Trust, and the author of
numerous literary works about Meher Baba, including the
twenty-volume biography Lord Meher, written at Baba's order.

Named Vir Singh Kalchuri and nicknamed "Bhau" ("brother" in
Hindi) by Baba, Bhauji joined Baba in 1953 after receiving
master degrees in Law, Chemistry and Agriculture. For many
years he served as one of Baba's night watchmen and it was
during the hours of night watch that Baba first expressed
His wish that Bhau begin writing poem-songs in Hindi, and
later books and plays, for Baba's pleasure.

After Baba dropped His body, Bhauji's unique background in
Law and Public Administration proved to be invaluable, from
the early days of the Trust's activities when Bhau became a
trustee, through the past 17 years when he served as
Chairman. Whether working day and night to solve a Trust
difficulty, answering a pilgrim's question, resolving a
resident's dilemma, or touring the Baba world in response to
invitations from Baba centres in India and abroad, Bhauji
gave extraordinary service to Baba through many different
aspects. Even during his last illnesses, despite great
discomfort Bhauji made efforts to give visitors his personal
attention, loving wisdom and lively sessions of witty humour
and song, as well as continuing his Sunday online “Chat”
which was looked forward to and enjoyed by Baba-lovers
around the world.

Bhauji’s achievements for Baba's Cause were legion. But like
the men mandali who went before him, Bhauji will be
remembered and honoured by posterity above all because of
his loving, wholehearted, life-long surrender at the Feet of
the Avatar of the Age, Beloved Meher Baba.

Subject: Bhau Health Update
Date: Saturday, 12th October 2013

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

In the early morning of Wednesday, 9th October, dearest Bhauji was taken by cardiac ambulance from Ahmednagar to Pune. He was safely admitted to the ICU at Jehangir Hospital at about 6:00 a.m. His family feels very satisfied that he was made as comfortable as possible for the journey, and, on arrival, that he is in excellent hands there.

Bhau remains on the ventilator and also has an NG tube.

A brain MRI was conducted, and no significant results were found.

As the specialists, doctors and nurses give all treatment and care, Sheela and David remain on watch, close to the ICU room. At this time, only family visitors are permitted.

Mehernath, Raj and Jatin visited Bhauji briefly on Friday, 11th October and returned with lighter hearts, as he seemed to be very comfortable, peaceful and conscious when they greeted him.

When Raj said, "Babuji, I am here, Mehernath is here, Jatin is here," Bhau opened his eyes, nodded and blinked in acknowledgement. (He cannot talk, of course, because of the ventilator tube.)

When Mehernath said, "Jai Baba!" Bhau nodded and gestured with his eyes, "Jai Baba!"

And when Mehernath asked, "Shall we do the prayer?" Bhauji again nodded and gestured, "Yes!"

He appeared to listen as together they said the "Beloved God" prayer.

Under Beloved Baba's Nazar, Bhauji is resting well and is receiving the best possible care. Beloved Baba is the Divine Doctor, and He alone can give the cure!

The love, prayers, and heartfelt good wishes of Baba's worldwide family are ever meaningful and precious to Bhauji, the family and all here.

Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dear Baba Family,

Bhauji was shifted to ICU at Jehangir Hospital in Pune early morning yesterday, October 9th. No visitors are allowed.

Sheela reports that the best of care was taken during the journey and also upon arrival. Mehernath and Arjang stayed with Bhauji in the ambulance and Sheela and David followed in a car.

As one can understand, the family was distraught, and Sheela prayed to Baba during the entire two hours journey. Saying such things as "Baba, You helped me always when You were in physical form. I know that You are still helping, but please give me a clue about what You want me to do. Look, I am right here! Baba, You treat Bhauji. You take care of him." And such things she prayed continuously for the two hours.

Upon arrival at the hospital they were greeted with heart-warming news. The doctor in charge of Bhauji already knew who Bhauji is through Sheela's daughter-in-law Akansha. Akansha Metha Fenster, wife of Adeem Fenster is President of Emergency hospital in America. She asked for a leave to come and see Bhauji in India and was invited to attend a medical conference in Kerala (South India) while here.

The doctor in charge of Bhauji's care will be giving a talk at that same conference and he was honoured to be able to attend to Bhauji. He immediately took charge, shifted Bhauji to a better room and within 5 minutes, all registration and set-up was done. The level of expertise from such top doctors and staff, with advanced level of hygienic and care has put Sheela's and the family's mind at rest.

How Baba answers prayers and gives a 'clue' just when one needs it, is what Sheela wanted to convey. She was full of Baba's praise and with great relief and joy she believes that Bhauji is going to get better. Baba is supervising Bhauji's care.

I conveyed to Sheela how people were praying for him, putting roses on the Samadhi and she was greatly touched. She said, "Thank you, thank you." Again and again.

Thank you all for the patience, heart's love and prayers united in Baba's Love.

Jai Meher Baba!
I am told that the name "Kalchuri" means "One who steals time and becomes immortal." (Kal = time, churi = thief)
As such, once more Bhauji is recovering and his pulse, blood pressure, temperature and oxygen intake is now within normal range. He required glucose and as a result is taking insulin once more to compensate for high blood sugar level.
He is alert and responsive, though resting much… as always.
About a week ago there was much happiness when Bhauji was able to pick up a glass (with his left hand) and take gulps of water independently of other’s help. He even tried to do the same with his right hand! All cheered! Sunday evening, visitors were dancing and singing and praying.
And yet, his health remains fragile. He was taken to Noble Hospital due to difficulty with eating as a consequence of reaction to anti-biotics.
Bhauji would wish to send his love to all in response to all prayers, love and fond wishes for his well being.

In Baba’s Love and Service,
Debjani

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

Dearest worldwide family of Beloved Baba,

Our dearest Bhauji was again taken to Noble Hospital
yesterday, Wednesday, 2 October 2013. He was moved by
ambulance from Sheela and David Fenster’s home in Meherabad,
and was admitted into a private room at about 10:30 AM.

He was shifted to ICU in the early evening of 2 October.
His condition is stable.

No visitors are requested by the ICU staff and family at
this time. More details will be provided as soon as
possible.

The love and prayers to Beloved Baba of all Baba’s family
worldwide are very precious to Bhauji, his family members
and his team. Bhauji remains completely surrendered to the
Wish and Will of His Beloved.

Jai Meher Baba!

Bhauji is continuing to do well and is seeing visitors daily at the Fenster's home. For the last two days, he has had a running temperature of 100 and all are requested to be careful to be absolutely free of infections prior to visiting.

However, Bhauji does delight in company and he wants to see people. Your love, prayers, songs bring him joy.

VISITING HOURS: 11:30 AM - 12:30 NOON
5:30 PM - 6:30 PM

Today and on the 25th, a group of 5 young Chinese visitors were invited to meet with him and Bhauji promptly asked them to say prayers. O Parvardigar, The Repentance Prayer and the O Beloved God Prayer were recited in perfect accord in Mandarin. Each greeted Bhauji with love and received welcoming smiles from Bhauji. An 18 year old boy said "he felt love".

Stories were recaptured of how when Baba was in Satara, He asked Bhauji to wear a "Chinese" mustache. This, Bhauji promptly grew. Later, a young boy who Baba had asked Bhauji to look after and teach (Ismail) claimed it was frightening him. Then Baba asked Bhauji to remove it.

Hoping that Bhauji recovers from his temperature and continues to improve. Loving thoughts, prayers, remembrances are, as always, appreciated.

Jai Ho!

Beloved Avatar Meher Baba Ki Jai!

By Beloved Baba’s Grace, dearest Bhauji is stable and
continues to improve while recovering from his serious
illness. He remains at the home of his daughter Sheela and
son-in-law David Fenster in lower Meherabad after his
discharge from hospital on 13 September.

A few days ago the NG/Ryle’s tube was removed after many
weeks, as he is now able to eat small portions of food by
mouth.

He remains aware and alert, and has become much more
talkative at times (especially in Hindi). Also, his right
arm is moving more easily. He has been able to sit in the
wheelchair for short periods.

He takes exercises every day for his legs, and sometimes
says, “Challo, challo! I want to get up!

People that meet him say, “He looks great. His face has a
good color!” Or, “He remembered me!”

Bhauji’s family and team are very grateful for the many
loving prayers and messages received in Baba’s love.

Bhauji is ever resigned to Beloved Baba’s Wish and Will, and
is in His all-compassionate embrace.
