BUILDING FAMILIES THROUGH SURROGACY
A couple married for 19 years were living together intimately all these years. But they could not conceive and get a baby child. They have done number of IVF treatments, at many centers all over India. The wife is having severe endomitosis . They were working abroad. Whenever they come to India for holidays, the entire days were purely utilized for medical treatments to conceive. But in spite of several procedures she could not conceive. They come to India for one month holiday, every year. After spending their one month holiday for treatment they go back to abroad for work. Again, they come next year spend their time money and energy and go back without getting any desired results. And this has become a routine process of their life.
On 2019 also the couple again came India for their holiday to have their routine treatment procedures. Because of the repeated failures in treatment for severe endomitosis , they finally decided to go for surrogacy under my treatment. But unfortunately, during this holiday the husband met with an accident, just 3-4 days prior to their departure. The accident was so severe, that the husband fell into the coma state and was surviving with the help of a ventilator. It went on for a period of 2-3 months since the accident.
Meanwhile the surrogacy treatment was on and embryos were Frogen and I was just holding it back waiting for the husband’s recovery. She was a wife who sacrificed her entire life just to be with her husband. She left her job, given up everything in her life, just to look after her ill-fated husband. Her situation was so painful.
One day she approached me and request me to transfer the available embryos to the surrogated mother. She told me that she will not be able survive if she could not get a baby child sooner, as she is on a verge of loosing her life partner and feeling severely lonely in life, all of a sudden. So, I immediately decided to transfer the embryos to the surrogated mother without further delay.
Meantime she was taking her husband to places where ever she could get the best neuro treatment for him. Slowly the husband came out of danger. He was out of the life threatening situation. Even though his body was recovering in a faster pace, his neuro health was not that better. He could not regain his full conscious. Still he could realize what is happening around him with his mild consciousness. As time progressed the husband could get out of the bed and were able move with the help of a wheel chair.
Days passed and the surrogated mother delivered a baby for the couple. Even though the husband could realize the good news, he could not express his emotions in full. But even amidst of all these miseries the wife was overwhelmed about the child’s birth. I also felt extremely happy that I could be a part of this happy episode in the life of the couple.
