RN Training and Events (Training Fund 1199SEIU) These improvements lead in turn to better patient and employee satisfaction and higher-quality care.

Part of the 1199SEIU Training & Employment Funds, our RN Programs enhance nursing skills to improve RN recruitment and retention and promote a healthy work environment. RN programs consist of the Registered Nurse Labor Management Initiative (RNLMI) and the Registered Nurse Training and Job Security Fund (RNTJSF). The RNLMI helps labor and management solve challenges concerning patient care, RN recruitment and retention, and patient satisfaction. RNTJSF is a joint program that trains teams at the facility level to identify educational needs for 1199SEIU RNs, then provides high-quality training to equip nurses with the skills they need to excel in a rapidly progressing healthcare industry. Registered Nurse Training & Job Security Fund

The 1199SEIU/League Registered Nurse Training and Job Security Fund (RNTJSF) was established through a collective bargaining agreement between the 1199SEIU RN Division and the League of Voluntary Hospitals & Nursing Homes and independent employers. Since its inception in 1995, the RNTJSF has equipped thousands of RNs with the skills needed to remain clinically competent in the ever changing healthcare field. Driven by input from committees comprised of members and management, the majority of RNTJSF trainings consist of a small number of students learning together in their own facilities or at other convenient locations, ensuring an optimal educational experience.

St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in Far Rockaway Queens is one of 1199 Union Facilities. The service and tech staff with our 1199RNs are truly the heroes of our community. We thank you for your dedication, especially at this time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In early March, doctors at St. John’s hospital in Far Rockaway identified the first Covid-19 patient in Queens. Now, there is an uneasy lull and the staff fears a second wave will come.
