India is facing an early-age substance use crisis — and most parents don’t even know it’s happening.
A new Times of India report reveals that kids are experimenting with drugs as early as 11 years old, with the average age of first use now just 12.9 years. From inhalants to pharmaceutical opioids, children are accessing substances quietly, often right under the family’s roof.
What makes this even more alarming is that 50% of students said they would never tell anyone about their use.
And behind this silence lie deeper issues: academic stress, emotional overwhelm, loneliness, family pressure, and lack of coping skills.
If we want to protect the next generation, conversations must start much earlier — at home, in schools, and in communities.
Awareness isn’t fear-mongering. It’s prevention.
Share this carousel to help more parents understand the risks and start talking early.
And tell us in the comments:
Why do you think children are turning to substances so young today?

We talk about women’s mental health often — and we should.
But somewhere in the background, India’s men are breaking quietly.
New NCRB data shows men die by su***de at more than 2.5x the rate of women. Yet most never reach out for help. Their pain gets hidden under one vague label: “family problems.”
But behind that lie real struggles — debt, illness, addiction, infertility, relationship conflict, and the pressure to “be strong” no matter what.
This post isn’t about blame. It’s about visibility.
If we want healthier families, we must finally make space for men to speak, to feel, and to seek support without shame.
If this resonated, share it with someone who needs to see it.
And in the comments, tell us: What do you think stops men from asking for help?

Healing requires trust — and trust begins with privacy.
At Veda, every client signs an NDA, every team member is bound by confidentiality, and no information ever leaves our space.
This is why our luxury rehab in Mumbai is chosen by public figures, celebrities, and NRI families who need complete discretion, not exposure.
💬 What does privacy mean to you in a healing environment?

Pause and try one of these the next time a craving hits…

And comment below which one worked for you.
Strange but effective — these are backed by neuroscience, behavioural psychology, and real addiction-recovery techniques.

Each hack interrupts the craving loop by targeting dopamine spikes, sensory overload, or habit triggers.

Save this for when your brain tries to pull you back into old patterns.

1. Craving alcohol? Smell peppermint.
Strong smells disrupt the olfactory craving loop.

Peppermint stimulates sensory pathways that interrupt reward-focused dopamine firing, helping the urge pass faster.

2. Want to smoke? Chew cloves or saunf.
The strong flavour activates taste receptors and shifts your brain’s focus away from ni****ne.

Clove’s natural numbing effect also reduces oral fixation urges.

3. Urge to gamble? Do 20 fast exhales.
Quick exhales lower sympathetic arousal and break impulsive action patterns.

Rapid breathing shifts the brain from reward-seeking to regulation mode.

4. Urge to binge eat? Rinse your mouth with very cold water.
Cold shock activates the mammalian dive reflex — instantly calming the nervous system.

It disrupts the emotional-eating loop by shifting your attention and lowering dopamine drive.

5. Craving sugar? Eat one salted peanut first.
Salt blunts the brain’s “sweetness anticipation” and lowers reward craving.

It also shifts your palate and interrupts the emotional trigger connected with sugar.

6. Want to v**e? Hold your breath for 4 seconds and exhale for 8.
Long exhales activate the parasympathetic response and calm the urge.

This breathing pattern mimics the relief people seek from va**ng — without the ni****ne.

7. Urge to message someone toxic? Stand up and shake your arms.
Shaking activates proprioceptive input, which resets impulsive behaviour.

Movement releases pent-up emotion and interrupts the urge to reach out.

8. Craving emotional numbness? Splash your face with cold water.
Cold water resets dopamine-driven urges for escape.

It brings you back into your body and out of the emotional shutdown cycle.

Real strength isn’t staying silent.

It’s letting yourself feel… and choosing to heal anyway.
If today is heavy, remember:

You don’t have to carry it alone.

Shame doesn’t make people stronger.

It makes them silent.

And silence is where addiction grows.
Recovery needs softness — honesty — safety — and the courage to try again after a setback.
If you’re healing, remember:

You don’t need to be perfect to deserve recovery.

You only need to be willing.
💬 What’s one thing you think people misunderstand about addiction?

(Your comment may help someone feel less judged.)
