Every year on Dusshera, we celebrate the victory of good over evil by burning the effigy of Ravan.
But what if we looked at Ravan a little differently this year?
Ravan’s ten heads don’t just belong to mythology.
In today’s world, they show up as:
Stress. Worry. Loneliness. Stigma. Expectations. Comparison. Perfectionism. Failure. Silence. Hopelessness.
These are the modern-day demons our children, colleagues, friends — even we ourselves — are battling quietly.
The battles are often invisible, but very, very real.
This Dusshera, can we make a promise?
Not just to light up the sky with fireworks, but to light up someone’s world with empathy.
Not just to burn effigies, but to burn the stigma around mental health.
Not just to celebrate Ram’s victory, but to stand by those fighting their inner wars.
Because sometimes, the bravest thing a person does is choose to keep going.
And sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is simply listen.
Here’s to celebrating Dusshera as not just a festival of triumph, but also of hope, compassion, and mental well-being.
At Ananya – A Foundation for Happiness (AFH), we are committed to creating spaces where conversations about mental health are welcomed, support is available, and hope is always nurtured.
Together, we can help more people overcome their inner demons and embrace joy.
