When eating or drinking something hot/cold/sweet/sour triggers sharp & sudden pain in one or more teeth, the condition is called tooth sensitivity.
In patients with sensitive teeth, the gums recede & expose the dentin (surface beneath) which gives way to the food to reach the pulp (tooth's nerve centre).
Brushing too hard, tooth decay, gum disease, teeth grinding, plaque build-up, acidic foods, etc. can result in tooth sensitivity.
In case of sensitive teeth, visit your dentist to know the specific causes & treatment. Do not self-administer toothpaste for sensitive teeth.
