World Health Day 2026 Celebrated at Department of Community Medicine, GMC Baramulla

Baramulla, April 7: The Department of Community Medicine, Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla, celebrated World Health Day with great enthusiasm and active participation from students, faculty members, and Heads of various departments.

On the occasion, an insightful presentation was delivered by the Ayush Medical Officer, highlighting the importance of holistic health and preventive care. In recognition of outstanding contributions, the officer was also felicitated with an award.

The event witnessed the presence of faculty, students, and departmental heads, reflecting a strong commitment towards promoting health awareness and community well-being.

A certificate of appreciation was presented to Mr. Adnan Shafi, Yoga Instructor, for his dedicated efforts in organizing a yoga session as part of the celebrations, encouraging a healthy lifestyle among participants.

The program concluded with a renewed pledge to work collectively towards achieving better health outcomes for the community.

The Department of Community Medicine, GMC Baramulla, in collaboration with the AYUSH Unit, Associated Hospital, Government Medical College Baramulla, successfully conducted a yoga session today as a prelude to World Health Day 2026, observed on 07 April 2026.
The event, aligned with the global theme "Together for Health: Stand with Science", aimed to promote holistic wellness, scientific integration of traditional practices like yoga, and community health resilience. Over 150 participants, including faculty, resident doctors, nursing staff, and local community members, joined the session led by certified AYUSH yoga instructor Adnan Shafi of GMC BARAMULLA. The session included Core asanas to enhance flexibility, strength, and mental clarity. Interactive session on yoga's evidence-based benefits, supported by scientific studies on its role in preventive healthcare. This initiative underscores our commitment to "standing with science" by blending AYUSH traditions with modern medical evidence, fostering a healthier Baramulla community.
