Before the Party: Do not skip meals during the day to save calories; this only leads to overeating later. Stick to your regular meals and have a healthy pre-party snack like nuts, fruits, or Greek yogurt. Keep your hydration levels high and complete your morning workout to boost your mood. If you are going to a house party, bring a healthy dish to share.

During the Party: Opt for a smaller plate to control portion sizes naturally. Scan the menu first, then fill your plate smartly: half veggies and salad, a quarter protein (like paneer or chicken), and a quarter carbs. Steer clear of fried and creamy items. Eat slowly, limit alcohol, and take only a small portion of dessert. Most importantly, stand away from the food table to avoid mindless snacking.

You’ve probably heard a lot about gluten-free diets but do you really need one?

What is Gluten? Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, maida, suji, etc. It’s what gives structure to foods like roti, bread, pasta, noodles, and bakery products.

Who must avoid gluten?
People with Celiac Disease (an autoimmune condition where gluten damages the small intestine).
Those with Gluten Sensitivity (not as severe as celiac, but causes discomfort).
Individuals with a Wheat Allergy.

Symptoms of Gluten Sensitivity Bloating, gas, stomach pain, acidity, loose motions, headache, fatigue. Removing gluten can reduce gut inflammation, improve digestion, and even benefit skin health.

The Bottom Line: Unless you suffer from these conditions, you don’t need to go gluten-free. For most people, whole grains are healthy and provide essential nutrients.
Always consult a doctor before making major dietary changes.
