SAY NO TO OVERCONSUMPTION: RECLAIMING PEACE IN DISTRESSING TIMES

We live in a hyper-stimulated world where the “solution” often means more information.

In moments of distress, our first instinct is often to reach outward—toward screens, tasks, and noise. It feels like action, like control. But too often, it becomes overconsumption—an invisible overload that leaves us exhausted, foggy, and disconnected.

Overconsumption isn't just a mental pattern; it affects the body, too:

* Disrupted sleep cycles

* Spikes in cortisol (the stress hormone)

* Nervous system dysregulation

* Reduced digestion and immunity

,* Eye strain and posture issues from screen time

When we ignore the body’s cry for calm, our health begins to suffer silently.

HERE'S HOW OVERCONSUMPTION SNEAKS IN :-

👉Endless scrolling on social media under the guise of staying informed

👉Watching news cycles repeatedly, flooding the body with anxiety

👉Overworking to avoid stillness or uncomfortable emotions

I celebrated my 47th birthday recently, embracing every moment with gratitude and pride. I truly believe I’m aging gracefully—not chasing a linear figure, but prioritizing my health, energy, and inner balance. For me, aging means embracing the natural biological changes with acceptance and confidence. It means enjoying life with a mix of fun "cheats" and mindful discipline, rather than rigid extremes. As a functional medicine doctor and clinical dietician, I often share this perspective with my patients, especially women in their mid-thirties to forties, encouraging them to view wellness as a holistic, sustainable journey rather than a short-term goal.
