Medical camp was held for the visually challenged elderly people on May 1st 2023, with support and in presence of Dr. Ramaswamy (PSG Hospitals), Dr. Prathibha (Certified Dietician), Siva Lab Coimbatore and Diya Welfare Trust who mostly made this possible.

Venue was NFB, Varadharajapuram Coimbatore.

Thanks to all volunteers as well.

TYKA volunteered for SSA (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan) - Identifying and encouraging non-school going kids and their parents or guardians, by counselling them and supporting with some monetary support (if needed).

We covered areas like Rathnapuri, Perur and S.N. paalayam in Coimbatore and identified more than 30 non-school going kids simply because no one cared for them.

This survey information goes to the district officer for child protection for them to take action and support these children for schooling.

Free eye checkup medical camp was held during November 2015 as a part of the several medical camps in different parts of Coimbatore.

This specific one was supported by Sankara Eye Hospital from Coimbatore, in coordination with Dhiya Social Welfare Trust.

TYKA supported and jointly sponsored for 'Sigaram Thoda 2023' - Musical festival for the Visually challenged where they showcased their singing, Musical instrument playing skills.

It was jointly organised with Dhiya social welfare Trust, in Coimbatore on 5th Feb 2023.

Music director Mr. Zubin was the chief guest.

Guess what, one of the participants released his own musical song album too, which was very much appreciated and welcomed by all!

At this event, we also started giving the appreciation certificates also in Braille, for the differently abled, which they felt included and nice.

TYKA supported and jointly sponsored for 'Sadhuranga Savaal 2023' - A chess tournament for the Visually challenged.
About 30 participants played in the tournament for the top three places.
All participants were also appreciated with a gift.

Events like these will provide opportunities and empower the differently abled people to showcase and enhance their skills, leading to better prospects of jobs and livelihood for them.

Dhiya foundation and National Federation for the Blind (NFB) Coimbatore chapter, TYKA jointly organised the event.

Friends, TYKA has been buying and collecting basic items for Flood Relief purpose and delivering it to trusted groups who deliver and distribute to the affected people in Chennai and cudallore.

Items include water, milk, biscuits, bread, napkins, diapers, rice, towels, blankets, general medicines, old clothes, footwear, pastes, etc.
We are doing this with monetary contribution from tykans, friends and family.

TYKA is happy to announce the happening of 3rd FREE EYE CAMP by SANKARA EYE HOSPITAL with DHIYA FOUNDATION and TYKA, on 21.11.2015 at Kovilpalayam,Cbe... All eye related problems can be tested and consulted... Do attend the camp friends and kindly pass the information, so that someone will be benefited !

TYKAns did the volunteer work, for the second time, for SSA (Sarva Siksha Abhiyan) . This time, we covered Rathnapuri area and Perur Area. Total of 20 non-school going children were identified.

Thanks to all the Tykans who came forward to volunteer.

Yesterday, some of the Tykans volunteered for SSA (Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan) which strives for Compulsory Education for all.

Ms.Srividya was the person who organized us all for this work.

Our work was to search and identify non-schooling children of age 6-14, take survey notes, encourage them to go to school. We did this work in S.N.Palayam and P.N.Pudhur Areas. We also had to identify differently abled children. We learned a lot in this process.

It was a last minute call, so couldnt inform other TYKAns. We will be doing this work again in the coming days. If anybody else is interested, please inbox me. Believe it or not, this work followed by educating the children is being done for more than 10 years by a government school teacher named Ms.Janaki. Imagine her efforts.

TYKA is back!!!!

It's been a long time since we were actively involved in a productive project and we felt that it was high time something was done! We put our heads together and decided to do something involving charity. A few members proposed helping out an orphanage that was really in need for help.

Some of our members brought out a list of orphanages and shortlisted the ones that were really in need of financial help. These shortlisted orphanages were visited and it was decided that one of these short-listed orphanages will be funded by TYKA.

On visiting the selected orphanage and speaking to the care-taker, the members realized that with over 45 students studying in schools (Std. 6 to Std. 12), the organizers of the orphanage were finding it difficult to manage paying the school fee. Hence, it was decided by the members of TYKA to join hands, collect funds and help these students with their schooling.
