“CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RURAL WOMEN”
Sri Ramakrishna Hospital Foundation For Research in Women’s Wellness And Development (SRH FORWWAD) hosts “CELEBRATION OF INTERNATIONAL DAY OF RURAL WOMEN” today (15th October 2018) for the rural tribal community women at Kallar –Mettupalayam. We had about 100 tribal women who was part of the program, where we had Dr . Vijaya Bhargavi R of Gynecology Department from our Hospital had sensitized the community women on Personal and Menstrual Hygiene and session on Self Examination of Breast Cancer was undertaken.
Ms. Aparna. M.A – Senior Programme Coordinator of SRH FORWWAD sensitized on the ill effects of using cloth during periods, especially the use of it in non hygiene manner. It is also noticeable that the incidence of sanitary pad usage at this location was lower and also in other rural areas, especially among those from Scheduled Tribes. Generally 71% women used cloth in rural areas as did 75.4% of those belonging to Scheduled Tribes.
Following the Session, doctors examined all the Women who had complaints and problems, were most of the women were found anemic, irregular me**es and gynecology issues .As a take away gift for Rural Tribal Women of Kallar, the team distributed free Sanitary Napkins and small containers as a token of gift to the community. We had few disabled women from the community who had come for visiting the doctors as a part of our “1st RURAL WOMEN HEALTH WELLNESS PROGRAM”.
