How Catastrophic Thinking Triggered My Worst Anxiety Attack | My 3 AM Hospital Story

2017. 3 AM. A hospital visit that taught me everything about catastrophic thinking.
My left hand's nerve was so swollen I couldn't move it. The pain kept getting worse.
At the hospital, the doctor said: "Since it's your left hand, it could be heart-related. We need to do an ECG."
That one sentence triggered everything.
Within seconds, my mind created an entire catastrophic story:
* ECG will show blockage
* They'll do angiography
* I'll need a stent
* I'll be on blood thinners for LIFE
By the time this movie finished playing in my head, my anxiety was at its peak.
I got angry at the doctor. I demanded painkillers and left immediately.
This is catastrophic thinking.
When a small event spirals into an extreme, worst-case scenario in your mind.
One symptom → Terminal diagnosis One mistake → Career destroyed�One conflict → Relationship over

Here's what I wish I knew that night:
Your brain isn't trying to torture you. It's trying to PROTECT you by preparing for the worst.
But protection turned into prison when every possibility became a catastrophe.
The truth? It was just nerve inflammation. Nothing more.
But my catastrophic thinking robbed me of peace, rational thinking, and trust in my own body.
