Early Versus late Epidural Analgesia; Effect on Obstetric Outcomes

Author: Jadon A, Agrawal A, Chakraborty S, Sinha N, Jain P

Epidural analgesia is the gold standard for pain relief during labour. However, controversies do exist about its effect on obstetric outcome and duration of labour. There is a contradictory opinion regarding increased incidence of Caesarean Section (CS) if epidural commencement is done in the early stage of labour. We conducted a prospective clinical study to evaluate the effect of early versus late placement of epidural analgesia on the incidence of caesarean delivery. In this prospective clinical study, a standard hospital-based protocol of labour analgesia was used for all the patients who were selected randomly for epidural analgesia. Early commencement of epidural analgesia (

Effects of Stump Density, Fertilizer on Rice Crop Quality and Harvest Amount in 2015 Investigated with Drone Mounted NIR Camera Data

Authors: Arai K, Gondoh K, Shigetomi O, Miura Y

Effects of stump density, fertilizer on rice characteristics (culm length, ear length, ear density, rice leaf greenness, water content, protein content, weight density) are investigated just before harvest of rice crops in 2015 with drone-mounted NIR camera data. Through experiments at rice paddy fields which is situated at Saga Prefectural Agriculture Research Institute SPRIA in Saga city, Kyushu, Japan, it is found that protein content in rice crops is highly correlated with NIR intensity or reflectance of rice leaves. Other than the protein content, culm length, ear density and weight density of rice crops are also correlated to NIR reflectance. Therefore, harvest amount of rice crops can be estimated with NIR reflectance. It also is found that ear length and water content in rice crops are not correlated with the NIR reflectance of the rice leaves while rice leaf greenness is correlated to the NIR reflectance.

Relation between Large Sized Diatom Appearance and Meteorological Data in Ariake Bay Area in Japan in Particular in the winter in 2016

Author: Arai K

Relation between diatom appearance and meteorological data in Ariake Bay area in Japan in particular in the winter in 2016 is clarified with MODIS data derived Sea Surface Temperature (SST), Photosynthesis Available Radiation (PAR), and Chlorophyll-a (Chl-a) concentration as well as with the meteorological data provided by Japanese Meteorological Agency: JMA (Air temperature, Wind direction and speed, Rainfall rate). Through experiments, it is found that large sized diatom appears after a long period time of relatively small size of red tide appearance and relatively high PAR as well as occasional rainfall. Also, it is found that the reason for not appear large diatom in 2016 nevertheless the large diatom appears in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015 and the large diatom appears in 2010 and 2011. The mechanism for large diatom appearance is clarified mostly. It totally depends on SST, PAR, which relates to nutrition content in the sea water and on the weather conditions (Sunshine Hours: SH which relates to PAR and SST, rainfall (supplying nutrition rich water from the lands to the sea through rivers) wind direction / speed (convection of seawater) and tidal effect (convection of seawater) as well as water current (movement of the diatom in concern) in the bay area in particular.

Providing Integrity of Distributed ISR Systems under Spatial Grasp Paradigm

Author: Peter Simon Sapaty

With the world dynamics growing rapidly in the 21st century, advanced Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) systems are becoming of paramount significance to predict, analyze, and withstand unexpected situations and conflicts. ISR is also the most important component of both civil and military systems for planning and management of operations of any complexity and coverage. Traditional parts-to-whole interoperability principles in organizing large distributed ISR systems may not always be adequate in rapidly changing environments, and more holistic approaches are needed. A new high-level distributed control technology will be presented that can effectively integrate scattered ISR facilities of national or international forces into global-goal-driven systems providing overall awareness and domination. It pursues so-called “overoperability” philosophy allowing us to grasp large distributed systems on highest, semantic, levels by dynamically creating throughout them gestalt-inspired operational infrastructures capable of solving any surveillance and control problems without traditional central resources.
