MAHABODHI YOUTH WINGS
Mahabodhi Youth Wings, a youth group of 200 and growing members are the alumni Mahabodhi Residential School (MRS) formed to reunite all the former students with the objective to implement and strengthen MRS's motto: 'love in action and compassion in action' and to keep alive the precious Dhamma lesson learned at the school, founded by Venerable Sanghasena operating since 1992. With such motive, the group annually conduct a month's workshops or seminars on 'Basic Buddhism course' for the interested youths of Ladakh. Teachings of Buddha are simplified and translated into simple language making it intelligible to the youth, thereby making them understand the relevance of Buddhism in modern times, deeming it the need of hours. MYW also boast of LUYANGS band, a musical band comprising talented youth, formed with the aim to preserve rich cultural heritage of Ladakh. Through the band, many students get to showcase their hidden talent. Unlike any other modern youth, who are more into rock and roll music, this music band plays soothing spiritual and other comforting music which keeps everyone in touch with one's soul. MYW has a sports club known as Devachan Sporting Club, inspired by Muhammad Ali's famous saying: "Champions aren't made in the gym. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a desire, a dream and a vision". The club gives platform for the youngsters of MRS family to participate in various sports event and motivate them to chase their sports dream. So far, DSC has participated in many state level tournament. One of the most important event MYW conduct is 'The Maha-Karuna Day' or the Great Compassion Day. The day is dedicated to Ven. Sanghasena and is celebrated on his birth day. His vision and practicality has changed lives of hundreds with the establishment of MIMC and multifarious activities it carries. He is an exemplar of compassion in action. Hence, the day is celebrated along with a presence of more than 300 audiences enrich by the talks of eminent personalities on the theme compassion and help spread its essence.
