TRAUMATIC HYPHEMA grade 2 to a patient who sustained injury to his eye with a tree branchlet!!

Hyphema is accumulation of blood in Anterior chamber of eye. Such patient can experience loss or diminution of vision depending upon the grade of hyphema. It can lead to following complications:
1. Increased Intraocular Pressure (IOP): Blood can obstruct the drainage of aqueous humor, leading to elevated IOP and potential glaucoma.

2. Corneal Blood Staining: Prolonged presence of blood can cause staining of the cornea, affecting vision.

3. Vision Loss: Depending on the severity and duration of the hyphema, there can be permanent vision impairment.

4. Rebleeding: There’s a risk of rebleeding, which can exacerbate complications.

5. Iritis or Uveitis: Inflammation of the iris or uveal tract may occur, causing pain and light sensitivity.

6. Cataract Formation: Blood in the anterior chamber can contribute to cataract development over time.

7. Retinal Detachment: Though less common, hyphema can be associated with retinal complications, including detachment.

Always consult your ophthalmologist in such condition to avoid complications. Follow for more of such posts if you are an eye enthusiast or following ophthalmology as your career option!
