Women of Gujarat are an example of independence and dignity.The kind of safety a woman feels and enjoys in Gujarat is nowhere to be seen in any part of the country. Every woman in Gujarat, be it from a city or from the remote village, has been given chance of employment and education along with health benefits. The government of Gujarat under the leadership of Narendra Modi has taken several initiatives to ensure that women walk shoulder to shoulder with men in development. Kanya Kelavani - This scheme was launched to encourage girl child education. Chiranjeevi Yojana - The word ‘Chiranjeevi’ signifies ‘Long Life’ & Chiranjeevi Yojana is to give long life to mother and child. Government of Gujarat initiated Chiranjeevi Yojana to encourage Below the Poverty Line (BPL) families to improve access to Institutional delivery. Beti Bachao Abhiyan - A campaign to stop female infanticide and to work towards improving the skewed up sex ratio. Mamta Abhiyan - It simply aims to provide a set of convergent essential Health and
Nutrition services on a common day to children, teenage school girls, pregnant
women and lactating mothers. Mission Mangalam - It has been nearly two years since the Gujarat Government launched the Mission Mangalam Programme. This poverty alleviation programme aims at empowering Gujarat’s women by creating Sakhi Mandals and integrating them into the corporate value chain has come a long way since then. Nari Adalats - Modeled on the Lok Adalat concept, Nari Adalats are block level autonomous tribunals of women operated by them for addressing their grievances. These bodies are supported by Mahila Samakhyas of each district. The above mentioned initiatives are few of the schemes initiated by the Gujarat Government under the leadership of Narendra Modi.
