Position: Field Worker
Job Description and Person Specification
Reports to: Project Coordinator
Location: Sikkim, although the job will involve travel to other States for capacity building trainings at regular interval.
Salary: Salary offered will be negotiable based on relevant experience and qualifications of the candidate

Key Duties and Responsibilities:-
• Identification and enrolment of persons with deafblindness and multiple disabilities with support of project team members
• Act as link between communities and organization. Share community members and families feedback/challenges faced with the project team
• Support project team in strengthening rapport with the family members of the children and adults with deafblindness/ multiple disabilities and other stakeholders such as medical & paramedical professionals, govt. officials, aganwadi & ASHA workers, regular school teachers, Samagra Siksha educators etc.
• To work hands on with children and plan proper Individualised Education Programme (IEP) and activities as per the need of the child with support of special educator
• Assist project team in organization of various project activities and participate in project activities like trainings, workshops, community awareness etc.
• Assist special educators in conducting functional assessments of children with disabilities (preferably Deafblindness, Visual Impairment, Hearing Impairment, and Intellectual disability)
• Participate in preparing quarterly progress/impact report preparation of the children
• Conduct regular home and centre visits, Community based programme for children with deafblindness and multiple disabilities
• Ensure protection of children and vulnerable adults with deafblindness/multiple disabilities against any form of abuse and in case of abuse report it to organization designated Child Protection Officer concerned authority
• Maintain daily diary of the work task undertaken
• To take initiatives independently as well as work as part of the team

Essential requirements
• 12th grade completed
• Fluency of local language.
• Basic knowledge to operate computer
• Willingness to travel all over India for trainings related to deafblindness and multiple disabilities
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team
• Organisational skills, initiative, enthusiasm
Desirable requirements
• Familiar with disability related programmes
• Understanding of development issues
• Ability to build support from staff across teams, and to build the capacity of others
• Able to facilitate groups
• Good personal presentation
• Personal commitment to improving one's own knowledge and skills

Position: Project Coordinator

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Manage relationship with Sense International India and undertake project appraisal, monitoring, evaluation and ensure minimum organizational programme management standards
• Establish and strengthening rapport with the family members of the children and adults with deafblindness/ multiple disabilities and other stakeholders such as medical & paramedical professionals, govt. officials, aganwadi & ASHA workers, regular school teachers, Samagra Siksha educators, NGOs etc.
• Responsible for smooth functioning of the project and ex*****on of activities as per project objectives and outputs.
• Monitor day to day functioning of the project staff members, planning their tour programmes, evaluating their progress, etc.
• Responsible for daily administration of the project activities, compilation and dissemination of information and submissions to relevant agencies.
• Undertake regular field visits to review project progress, monitor and assist project staff on programme management and compliance with project objectives
• Responsible for documentation of project activities including case study, success stories, good practices and maintenance of documents.
• Preparation of narrative report based on project activities and timely submission of the reports to Sense International India
• Responsible for logistic arrangement and organise capacity building trainings for the project staff with regards to deafblindness/ multiple disabilities, organization policies, disability laws and policies etc.
• Facilitating meeting of network groups of family members and educators of children with deafblindness and adult with deafblindness
• Submitting monthly statements of expenditure to the Finance team/Director, in respect of field expenditure and other establishment and/or administrative expenses.
• Sensitize govt. officials and CSOs on deafblindness and multiple disabilities. Create synergizes between govt. machinery and project to ensure maximum benefit to the service users under the project
• Encouraging publication of articles, news reports, success stories and such other material in the newspapers, journals and periodicals for crating public awareness
• Ensure protection of children and vulnerable adults with deafblindness/multiple disabilities against any form of abuse and in case of abuse report it to organization designated Child Protection Officer or concerned authority
• Any other work concerning the project assigned by the director
• Organizing visits from Officials from Sense India and other donor agencies, drafting schedule, organizing visit etc

Essential requirements
• Ideally you will be a Graduate in social sciences/ management/ disability studies with a skill to work in the development sector
• Experience in implementation/management of development programmes, preferably in disability field
• Strong analytical, conceptual and strategic thinking skills
• Demonstrated ability to plan projects, understand budgets, and implement time bound activities.
• Good communication skills with fluency of local language.
• You will have basic knowledge to operate computer and Microsoft Office software.
• You will be willing to travel all over India for trainings related to deafblindness and multiple disabilities
• Good interpersonal skills
• Ability to work as a member of a team

• To submit a quarterly progress/impact report of children to office by the 28th of every quarter
• To modify classroom and home setup to help children participate in school/home activities

• To organise sensitization and training programme for government officials, civil society organization etc.

• B.Ed. or D.Ed. in special education preferably in field of deafblindness, visual impairment, hearing impairment or multiple disabilities

• Basic knowledge to operate computer and Microsoft Office software.
