Clubfoot describes a range of foot abnormalities usually present at birth (congenital) in which your baby’s foot is twisted out of shape or position. Clubfoot is a fairly common birth defect .

Clubfoot is not painful during infancy. However, if your child’s clubfoot is not treated, the foot will remain deformed, and they will not be able to walk normally. With proper treatment, the majority of children are able to enjoy a wide range of physical activities with little trace of the deformity. If your child has clubfoot, your pediatrician will recommend treating it soon after birth.

A baby with clubfoot will be treated by an orthopedic surgeon. Treatment consists of corrective support device. It includes stretching and casting (Ponseti method) or stretching and taping (French method). Sometimes, surgery is required.

When to see Your Pediatrician???
See a paediatrician as soon as you can if your baby has:

•Diarrhoea for more than 12 hours.
Repeated vomiting, or vomiting for 12 hours or more.

•A fever. Take your baby to the doctor if she has a fever of 100.4 degrees F or higher and she's under three months, or 102.2 degrees F or higher if she is older than three months.

•A burn larger than a small coin (about 2cm in diameter), particularly if the skin is blistering (this includes sunburn).

•Persistent crying. If baby is crying more than usual, or if her cry sounds high-pitched, or she is whimpering or moaning, see your doctor.
•Blood-streaked vomit or poo. It needs checking with your doctor straight away.
•An unexplained rash, particularly if it's accompanied by a fever.

•A barking cough with a loud, high-pitched rasping sound when she breathes in. This may be croup and needs to be checked by your doctor.

•Your Child has not wanted to drink for more than eight hours. Or she's had less than half of her usual amount to drink over the past 24 hours. This includes breast or bottle feeds for young babies.

•Your baby has been unusually irritable and moody for no apparent reason in the past 24 hours.

•Your baby has pink, watery, or sticky eyes. This could be a sign of an eye infection, such as conjunctivitis. This can be very infectious and needs treating promptly.

•Discharge from her ears, eyes, navel, or ge****ls over the past 24 hours.

Breast milk is the ideal food for babies for 6 months

2. Feed your newborn on cue

Most newborns need 8 to 12 feedings a day — about one feeding every 2-3 hours.
Look for early signs of readiness to feed like moving the hands to the mouth, sucking on fists and fingers, and lip smacking. Fussing and crying are later cues. The sooner you begin each feeding, the less likely you'll need to soothe a frantic baby.
When your baby stops suckling, closes his or her mouth, or turns away from the ni**le , he might be full — or simply taking a break. Try burping your baby or waiting a minute before offering your breast or the bottle again.As your baby gets older, he or she may take in more milk in less time at each feeding.

3. Consider vitamin D supplements

Ask your baby's doctor about vitamin D supplements for the baby, especially if you're breastfeeding.

4. Expect variations in your newborn's drinking patterns

Your newborn won't necessarily drink the same amount every day. During growth spurts — often at 2-3weeks after birth — your newborn might take more at each feeding or want to be fed more often.

5. Trust your instincts — and your newborn's

You might worry that your newborn isn't drinking enough, but babies usually know just how much they need. Don't focus on how much, how often or how regularly your newborn eats. Instead, look for:
•Steady weight gain
•Contentment between feedings
•By the 5th day after birth, at least 6 wet diapers and >3 bowel movements a day

6. Consider each feeding a time to bond with your newborn

Hold your newborn close during each feeding. Look him or her in the eye. Speak with a gentle voice. Use each feeding as an opportunity to build your newborn's sense of security, trust and comfort.

7.Know when to ask for help

If you're having trouble breastfeeding, ask a lactation consultant or your baby's doctor for help — especially if every feeding is painful or your baby isn't gaining weight.

Eye flu or viral conjunctivitis, is an infection that affects the eyes. This eye problem arises by viruses and can make your eyes red, itchy, and watery. It can also lead to a sticky discharge and make your eyes feel uncomfortable. It is contagious, which means this disease can pass from person to person easily. You might have it by touching your eyes after touching surfaces or objects that have the virus on them, or by close contact with someone who has this eye problem.

Most Common Symptoms of Viral Conjunctivitis -
>Redness
>Itching
>Excess watery discharge.
>Discharge sticky, yellowish discharge, especially after waking up.
>Sensitivity to Light known as photophobia.
>Blurred Vision or a gritty sensation in the eyes.

Prevention and Hygiene Practices

1-Soap and Water should be used regularly to clean hands for at least 20 seconds prior to touching any facial features or eyes
2-Utilize Tissues or Elbow:When coughing or sneezing, using tissue or coughing into your elbow will help prevent respiratory droplets from spreading further.
3-Avoid Sharing Personal Items - towels, cosmetics or any other personal items which might come into contact with eyes with anyone.
4-Clean and Disinfect Surfaces that come into regular contact, such as doorknobs, countertops and electronic devices.
5-Practice Good Contact Lens Hygiene
6-Avoid crowded places and swimming pools
