A deeply enriching and inspiring three days at the XIV Milanov National Congress, Moscow.
I recently returned from Moscow after participating in one of the region’s largest scientific gatherings in plastic, reconstructive, and aesthetic surgery. With over 5,000 attendees, the congress brought together an extraordinary mix of expertise - from plastic surgeons and maxillofacial specialists to oncologists, dermatologists, ophthalmic surgeons, and international delegations from Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan and beyond.
During the congress, I had the privilege to:
🔹 Deliver two invited talks
1. Restoring dynamic smile and eye closure in facial nerve palsy
2. Refinements in four-lid blepharoplasty
🔹 Co-chair high-impact scientific sessions with global leaders such as
Prof. Natalya Manturova, Daikhes N.A., Diab H.M., Avdoshsenko K.E., Golovach V.A., and others.
Both sessions were exceptionally interactive, with detailed discussions on techniques, outcomes, and evolving trends in facial aesthetic and reconstructive surgery.
Beyond the academic experience, the organisers curated a warm and memorable cultural immersion - from a beautifully lit Moskva River cruise to a gala dinner overlooking the cityscape and the iconic St. Peter statue.
Moscow in December, decorated for Christmas and New Year, was a sight to behold.
I also had the opportunity to visit Prof. Manturova’s hospital, a leading centre where many top Russian plastic surgeons work - an insightful experience that underlined the global diversity in surgical thought and practice.
My heartfelt thanks to Prof. Natalya Manturova and Dr Akhmed Rakhimov for the invitation and their gracious hospitality.
