"Food is not just calories, Food is information".

Traditionally, food has been viewed through the lens of "calories in, calories out" .

This is the idea that: If you eat more calories than you burn, you gain weight & If you eat fewer calories than you burn, you lose weight.

But this is a very simplistic view. It assumes all calories are the same, regardless of whether they come from egg, nuts or broccoli or from a sugary soda. In reality, different foods have different effects on our hormones, metabolism, gut bacteria, inflammation levels, and gene expression.

"Food is information".

This is the game-changer. Every bite of food is like information that sends chemical signals into your body that can:

Turn genes on or off (epigenetics), Activate or suppress hormones (like insulin, ghrelin, leptin), Trigger inflammation or reduce it, Feed beneficial or harmful gut microbes, Build or break down muscle, fat, or brain tissue. Just like a software update affects how your phone runs, food "codes" your body to function a certain way — either optimally or poorly.

Do, look at it this way : "Food is the code that programs our biology"

Think of your body as hardware.
What controls it? Software.
And food is a major part of that software.

The nutrients (like omega-3s, amino acids, vitamins, antioxidants) act like instructions.

The toxins (like trans fats, added sugars, processed additives) act like bugs or viruses.

The timing of eating (circadian biology, fasting vs. snacking all day) influences how these signals are interpreted.

When we eat whole, real, nutrient-dense foods, we’re giving our body the right instructions. When we eat ultra-processed junk, we’re sending faulty code, which leads to malfunction — insulin resistance, inflammation, obesity, chronic disease.

Avocado doesn’t just provide fat — it gives your body monounsaturated fats that reduce inflammation and support brain and heart health.

Broccoli has sulforaphane, a compound that activates detoxification pathways and helps fight cancer.

Sugar-sweetened beverages don’t just add calories — they spike insulin, feed bad gut bacteria, and drive metabolic dysfunction.

👉 ऊर्जा संग्रहण: वसा कोशिकाएं ट्राइग्लिसराइड्स (वसा का एक प्रकार) के रूप में ऊर्जा संग्रहित करती हैं, जिसे शरीर ऊर्जा की आवश्यकता होने पर तोड़कर उपयोग कर सकता है।
