Since July 1999 all the courses were converted into three years duration with an intake of 40 students in each branch. Later on Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation branch was renamed as Instrumentation and Control Engg. with an intake of 40. With effect from July, 2004 two new Diploma courses namely Computer Engg. and Electronics & Comm. Engg. with intake of 60 each have been started. At present the total strength of the students is 800.

Govt. Polytechnic, Hisar is situated at National Highway - 10 on Delhi-Fazilka road at Hisar. The steel city of Haryana, Hisar is having Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science And Technology, Central Institute for research on Buffaloes, National Research Centre on Equines, Central Livestock Farm, Central Sheep Breeding Farm, one of the biggest Auto Market of Haryana, Military station, Aviation Club. Agroha, an historical holy place and having Maharaja Aggarsain Institute of Medical Research & Education is situated at 20 Km from Hisar on N.H-10.This institute is one of the most prestigious institute in Haryana. The institute was inaugurated in 1992. It is presently being headed by Sh. N.K. Verma, Principal of the Institue. It is in the western part of Haryana and is well connected by national highway, road and railway network. It is about 170 Kms from Delhi and 230 Kms from Chandigarh. Hisar is connected by road and rail. There is regular bus service from Delhi and Chandigarh to Hisar. The campus is four kms from bus terminal. The institute was established by Haryana Govt. with the assistance of World Bank in the year of 1992. The following sandwich pattern courses each of four years duration were initially offered. First admission was made in the year of 1992 by admitting 15 students each in the following branches. 1. Industrial Electronics and Instrumentation 2. Plant Maintenance with specialisation in Mech. Engg.
