BASIC SKIN PROBLEMS IN WINTER!!!
Winter may be pleasing weather for many but it sometimes becomes very harsh for your skin. Cold and dry air low humidity and high winds exposes your skin to dryness and deprive it from much needed moisture. Hot water bath and turning up heat to keep warm do the same and ultimately dries up natural oils from your skin.
Due to this, some of the chronic skin ailments like eczema and psoriasis flares up or increases in winter. Also intake of fluids by a person considerably decreases in winter which shoots up the problem. Taking adequate fluids and staying in moisture rich environment helps a lot in most of the skin ailments that arises during winter.
Few points to remember:
1) Adverse to popular belief, UV damage to skin is more during winter. Due to less heat and body sweat in winter days, people do not feel necessary to use sunscreen, or avoid direct sun. but these Ultra violet rays can pe*****te your skin and causes lots of side effects and skin reactions. So better to avoid direct exposure to sun and always use sunscreen to avoid any skin irritations.
2) Cold air and high wind may make you happy but it leaves your skin dry and flaky. So most of the skin ailments associated with dryness increases in winter. Itchy rashes may also increase. So stay hydrated and keep your skin wet. Moisturisers may help a lot.
3) Chapped lips is also a recurring nuisance in winter. As your skin experiences dryness, there are also changes that occur on your lips. Oftentimes, they appear as chaps and cracks. They look unsightly and may cause a bit of discomfort as a result of the broken top layer. Products that contain Vitamins A and E and other moisturizing ingredients can soothe the skin and aid in its repair.
4) Dry patches and itchy rashes are common in winter. So keep your warm water shower as short as possible. Use moisturizers as and when necessary. Stay away from harsh soaps and chemicals.
5) Choose right fabric to wear. Simple, light and breathable fabric helps skin to heal on its own. Wool also sometimes increases sensitivity.
6) Keep your immunity strong. Watch what you eat. Add fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits to your regular diet. Reduce consumption of alcohol and canned beverages which may dehydrate your body fast.
7) Stay away from stress. Extra stress leads to suppressed immune system, which ultimately leads to aggravation of underlying skin problems.
😎 Avoid harsh cosmetics and commercial products. All products are not as effective as shown on advertisements. Choose just what is good for you.
9) Never stop or discontinue skin medications if taking for longer period of time. Some drugs are prone to make skin dry. Visit a doctor and get best advice at earliest.
