🌑 WINTER SOLSTICE & HOLIDAYS
What NOT to Do — Slavic Folk Magick 🌲🔥

In Slavic tradition, the days around the Winter Solstice (Koliada) are a threshold between years, when words, actions, and intentions shape the fate of the months ahead.

Avoid these during Solstice & the Winter Holidays:

❌ Do not argue, curse, or speak harshly
❌ Do not cry excessively or mourn loudly
❌ Do not lend money, salt, food, or fire
❌ Do not sweep or throw trash outside at night
❌ Do not cut hair or nails on Solstice Day
❌ Do not leave mirrors uncovered at night
❌ Do not kill animals unnecessarily
❌ Do not mock old rituals or sacred symbols
❌ Do not go to sleep angry or unreconciled
❌ Do not refuse carolers or sacred guests
❌ Do not make irreversible promises or vows
❌ Do not isolate yourself completely

🕯️ Why?
Because this is a liminal time — what you lose, give away, or speak now is believed to repeat throughout the coming year.

✨ Keep peace in words.
✨ Protect the hearth and the home.
✨ Honor ancestors and old ways.
✨ Set intentions, not burdens.

🌲🔥 As the Sun is reborn, so is your path.

The Dual Nature of Lilith: The Balance of Light and Shadow
Lilith embodies the union of opposites, the reconciliation of light and dark. In her, the practitioner finds the qualities of both a nurturing mother and a fierce warrior, a loving seductress and a harbinger of destruction. Her duality reflects the complexity of the human soul, which contains both shadows and light, fear and love. To fully embrace Lilith is to recognize and accept these parts of oneself, understanding that true empowerment comes not from denying the darkness, but from integrating it.
The Light of Lilith: The Liberating Feminine
The liberating aspect of Lilith represents the power of self-realization, autonomy, and spiritual awakening. She is the embodiment of untamed passion and the freedom to follow one’s true will, unencumbered by the restrictions imposed by society or dogma. As a figure of the divine feminine, she offers healing to those who feel oppressed, repressed, or disconnected from their own power.
“Lilith, Light in the Darkness, come forth. Heal me through the fires of transformation, that I may rise anew, unbroken and unbound.”
The Shadow of Lilith: The Fearsome Protector and Destroyer
In her darker aspects, Lilith is the fierce protector of the lost and the avenger of wrongs. She is not a malevolent force, but one who embodies the necessary destruction that precedes rebirth. Her darkness is the darkness of the womb, the place where creation is incubated, and where transformation begins. She tears down falsehoods, forcing the practitioner to confront the raw and unrefined truths that lie buried deep within the psyche.
“Lilith, show me the truth that I hide. Let me see with clarity, even that which I fear. I embrace my shadows, and in doing so, I embrace thee.” #চাঁদেররীতি

Lilith often speaks through dreams, using the language of symbols and archetypes to guide the practitioner. Devotional dreamwork practices can deepen one's connection with Lilith and provide insights into the hidden aspects of the self.
Dream Incubation Ritual:
Set a dark stone such as obsidian or onyx under the pillow, and burn mugwort incense before sleeping.
Speak the invocation:
“Lilith, Mistress of Night Visions, I call thee. Open the gateway of dreams, and reveal to me thy secrets.”
Keep a journal by the bedside to record any dreams upon waking.
Interpretation of Lilithian Symbols in Dreams:
If a serpent appears, it may represent transformation, sexual energy, or a call to shed old skin.
Dreams of the sea or dark waters may signify the exploration of deep emotions or unconscious fears.
An owl in a dream could indicate a need for heightened intuition or guidance in seeing through illusions.

Hail Lilith, Mistress of Night Visions

The witch calls on Hecate,
keeper of keys, guardian of thresholds,
she who walks with hounds and shadows.

Her torches burn at the crossroads,
three faces turned to past, present, and future,
all roads visible in her ancient gaze.

It is Saturday, the eve of her sacred night.
Tomorrow is November 16, the Night of Hecate...
but tonight, the veil between us thins.

What is Hecate's domain?
The liminal. The threshold. The in-between.
She rules the spaces we fear to stand in:
the moment before choosing,
the hour between midnight and dawn,
the doorway between who we were and who we're becoming.

She is not gentle.
She does not soften her truths for comfort.
She shows you all three paths
and asks which one you're brave enough to walk.

She holds the keys to every locked door
in your life
but she will not open them for you.
She places the key in your palm
and waits to see if you'll turn it.

So the witch prepares her altar at the crossroads,
real or imagined,
lighting three candles for her three faces.

The witch leaves offerings at the threshold:
keys and garlic and honey and eggs,
gifts for the goddess who guards all passages.

The witch speaks into the dark:
𝘏𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘸 𝘮𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘴𝘦𝘦.
𝘏𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘪𝘭𝘭𝘶𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘐 𝘧𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘢𝘭𝘬.
𝘏𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦, 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘐'𝘷𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘢𝘷𝘰𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨.

On this eve, we honor the keeper of mysteries.
We acknowledge the crossroads we stand at.
We accept the keys we've been given
and the courage required to use them.

Tomorrow night, light your torches.
Tomorrow night, call her name at the crossroads.
Tomorrow night, ask for her blessing
as you step through the threshold.

But tonight?
Tonight, prepare.
Acknowledge what you're ready to unlock.
Admit which path calls to you in the dark.

Because Hecate only comes when you're ready to see everything
and walk forward anyway.

🗝️
With keys in hand and torchlight ahead,
Blessed Saturday, witches.
Tomorrow, we honor the Keeper of Thresholds.
~ Baba

In Kemetic/Egyptian Polytheism Anapa or Anubis is the God of Death, Mummification, Funerals and the afterlife. Anapa is usually depicted as a canine or a man with a canine head. Anubis assumed different roles in various contexts. Depicted as a protector of graves as early as the First Dynasty (c. 3100 – c. 2890 BC), Anubis is also an embalmer. One of his prominent roles is as a god who ushers souls into the afterlife. He attends the weighing scale during the "Weighing of the Heart," in which it is determined whether a soul will be allowed to enter the realm of the dead. Anubis is depicted in black, a color that symbolizes both rebirth and the discoloration of the co**se after embalming. Anubis is associated with Wepwawet (also called Upuaut), another Egyptian god portrayed with a dog's head or in canine form, but with grey or white fur. Anubis' female counterpart is Anput. His daughter is the serpent goddess Kebechet. #চাঁদেররীতি
