Day 5 + 6 of my Rajasthan trip!

Day 5 started with an early morning visit to the Umed Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur. Loved the vintage cars ๐Ÿ˜ and from there, we left for Udaipur.

I've been to Udaipur in 2007... had gone for a shoot for a TV show! I had absolutely loved it back then. This time too, Udaipur was such a treat!

Day 6 all day we were on our feet, doing touristy stuff around Udaipur! Visited the City Palace, then went to Jagdish Temple, had lunch at a cute cafe adjacent to Lake Pichola, did a bit of shopping and rested at the hotel for a bit during the afternoon.

In the evening, we went to the Maharana Pratap Smarak at Moti Marg. Found a hidden gem there - a small museum depicting scenes from the Battle of Haldighati. Also learned about the legendary pet horse Chetak - maybe the only animal who's been given his due in history! Told you - the Rajasthanis are kind to their animals! They don't forget their loyal pets โค๏ธโค๏ธ

Day 3 + 4 of our Rajasthan trip!

Day 3 we left for Jodhpur. Stopped at the Bada Bagh on the way! The Cenotaphs were exquisite & the entire place had such a peaceful, calming vibe. Upon reaching Jodhpur, we checked into a heritage hotel - almost 120 years old, and right at the foot of the Mehrangarh Fort ๐Ÿ˜ all I had to do was look up from the balcony to admire the 600 year old majestic fort!!

Day 4 we left early to make the most of the day! Visited the Fort & was blown away by how stunning it was and how beautifully managed the entire Fort tour was! From there we went to Jaswant Thada, which is a Cenotaph as well. Next we went to Mandore Gardens. Honestly, it was quite skippable - there wasn't much to see or enjoy! Plus it had gotten quite hot.

We rested a bit in the afternoon & in the evening, went to Torji Ka Jhalra Bavdi & then Maa & I went a bit crazy shopping ๐Ÿ› ๐Ÿ˜œ

Jodhpur is known as the blue city... but there's hardly anything blue in the city any more! That was a bit disappointing.

Rajasthan, so far, was turning out to be a fabulous trip - we loved how kind the locals were to their street animals & how sweet & genuinely nice they were to the tourists! Food is simple but very tasty! And shopping options are fabulous ๐Ÿ’ƒ so far, so good!

Day 0 + 1 of my Rajasthan vacation!

Reached the beautiful, little golden town of Jaisalmer in the golden hours - was absolutely mesmerising especially because the entire town uses only yellow sandstone for their buildings! Our stay for the night was a stunning little place built in the style of heritage houses of Rajasthan.

The next morning was magical too - super cold, windy & completely fogged out! But we loved our visit to the Sonar Kella ๐Ÿ˜ it's been on my bucket list since I was 7-8 yr & I had watched Satyajit Ray's film by the same name. Honestly, I don't know any Bengali who hasn't watched the film & didn't want to visit the Kella โค๏ธ in fact, the film was so impactful that locals too now refer to the fort as Sonar Kella!

The fort is a lived in fort so it was quite magical exploring the lanes and bylanes, knowing that each house inside the fort has been lived in for at least 500 years!! Souvenir shopping from the small historical shops was fun. The highlight definitely was the exquisite Jain temples inside the fort. Next we went to Patwon ki Haveli, and then we made a quick visit to Gadisar Lake! The sun was strong, otherwise it was a perfect place to chill!

Post lunch we left for our Desert Camp. Though the jeep safari (and dune bashing) was nice, I must warn you about the camp itself! It's a complete scam! They charge premium tariffs but NOTHING about them is premium - the tents are shoddy & dirty, the food is average and the 'cultural experience around a bonfire' that happens in the night is a complete farce! If anyone asks me, I'm going to tell them to steer clear of that mess! Go for the jeep safari, but don't stay in the desert at night!

Thankfully though, the worst experience of the trip was already over and going forward, the trip only kept getting better ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜

I'm so happy that I could take my parents on this vacation as they've been wanting to do this for decades now!

to 2019!

Was cleaning out old videos & stumbled upon this!!! I don't remember what had set it off but I'm so glad that I have videos of this moment ๐Ÿ˜…โ™ฅ๏ธ I'm completely my husband's girl & I'm the happiest when I'm with him ๐Ÿงฟ

No, I wasn't drunk or high! I had quit drinking in 2016 & have never touched any kinda dr*gs. I was just happy ๐Ÿซ ๐Ÿ˜
