The story of Appu, stolen by beggars and attacked by street dogs

Appu, aged 1½ years, was stolen from his parents by a gang of nomadic beggars and brought to Ettumanoor Town. During daytime the elder women in the group used to beg, carrying this child to attract sympathy. In the night, they would sleep on the verandas of shops or at the bus-station. One day, when this child was sleeping on the veranda of a shop, street dogs attacked him badly injuring his cheeks. Seeing this, his beggar-protectors left the place, leaving him alone. Informed by a kindhearted witness, the Chairman Bejoy Vedagiri of Sisubhavan rushed to the spot. With the assistance of the police, he got the child admitted to the Medical College Hospital, Kottayam. After medical treatment there for a couple of months, Appu was brought to Sisubhavan, where he lives his happy, naughty life.
