Kidney cancer often develops quietly and may not cause symptoms in the early stages. Because of this, many tumors are discovered only when imaging is done for other health problems. Being aware of warning signs and seeking timely medical evaluation can make an important difference.

Grateful to see this complex uro-oncology surgery reflected in today’s media coverage.
Urological cancers often remain silent in the early stages. Because of this, many patients are diagnosed when the disease is already advanced. Persistent blood in urine, unexplained urinary symptoms, or any recent change in urinary habits — especially in elderly individuals — should never be ignored. Early evaluation can significantly influence outcomes.
In this case at Chandan Hospital, a 79-year-old gentleman with synchronous advanced malignancies of the ureter and urinary bladder underwent a combined robotic Radical Nephroureterectomy with Radical Cystoprostatectomy and Bilateral extended Pelvic Lymph Node Dissection in a single sitting, with en bloc specimen removal. Despite the magnitude of surgery and associated comorbidities, his recovery was smooth and he was discharged in stable condition on postoperative day 5.
Complex uro-oncology demands careful selection, multidisciplinary planning, and disciplined surgical ex*****on.

Blood in urine (hematuria) should never be ignored—especially if it’s painless.
One of the common warning signs of bladder cancer is painless, intermittent hematuria: it may appear once, disappear, and return later.

✅ If you notice red/pink urine or even blood only on urine test, get evaluated early—usually with urine analysis, ultrasound/CT urogram (as appropriate), and cystoscopy.
⚠️ Don’t self-treat as “UTI” without proper assessment, particularly in smokers, people >40 years, or anyone with recurrent episodes.

Early evaluation can make a major difference because bladder cancer, when detected early, is often highly treatable.

A young, sexually active man came to us for a second opinion after being diagnosed with carcinoma in situ of the p***s.
He could not tolerate the standard topical treatment (5-FU) and was advised partial removal of the p***s (g***sectomy) elsewhere, which was understandably distressing for him.

After detailed evaluation and counselling, and keeping his age and quality of life in mind, we opted for an organ-preserving surgery called g***s resurfacing.
The final biopsy confirmed complete disease clearance with no invasion, meaning a more radical surgery was avoided.

👉 Key message:
Pe**le cancer is not always treated with removal surgery.
In carefully selected cases, advanced organ-preserving procedures can offer safe cancer control while maintaining appearance and sexual function.

Early diagnosis, correct staging, and specialist opinion can make a life-changing difference.
If something doesn’t feel right, don’t hesitate to seek a second opinion.

Many men begin to notice urinary changes—slower flow, hesitancy, urgency, or waking up at night—and quickly label them as “normal age-related prostate issues.” While ageing can contribute, these symptoms are not something to dismiss without evaluation. Early prostate cancer often presents with exactly the same complaints and usually without pain, which is why relying on assumptions can delay timely diagnosis.
Getting a simple check-up, PSA test, or ultrasound does not mean something is seriously wrong—it only ensures clarity. Most men who get evaluated discover benign causes, but for the few in whom early prostate cancer is detected, the benefit is life-changing. When identified early, prostate cancer is easier to treat, requires less aggressive intervention, and offers far better long-term quality of life.
