TURNIP (Shalgam)
Turnips are very rich in vitamins A, B and C. They are very useful in cases of rapid pulse, physical weakness, tender joints, stammering, catarrh, poor appetite and digestive disturbances.
Turnip leaves contain more calcium than any other vegetable. Cooked as any other leafy green vegetable, it is an excellent food for growing children.Turnip juice has twice the amount of vitamin C as oranges or tomatoes. Turnips are also good for the elimination of uric acid from the body, which is good for the overweight persons and gout sufferers. Turnips are very high in sulphur and are sometimes gas forming. When fresh and young, turnips can be used raw in salads.
